Four-year-old boy stabbed to death in southest London

A four-year-old boy has been found stabbed to death at a flat in southeast London, Scotland Yard said today

A 28-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man, believed to be the child’s parents, were also taken to hospital last night suffering “serious injuries”.

Police said the woman was suffering a neck wound and the man “serious stab wounds”.

A 17-month-old baby girl was also found at the scene at Lynton Estate, Lynton Road, in Southwark, but was said to be unhurt.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene after police were called at 6.15pm yesterday.

Scotland Yard said that the death was being investigated by the Child Abuse Investigation Command Major Investigation Team.

The man is still in a south London hospital in a stable condition. The woman has now been discharged.

Officers said that there have been no arrests but that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

A police source said: “We’re waiting for the parents to be well enough to be interviewed but we are concentrating on the dad, who is still in hospital.

“It wouldn’t be wrong to say we’re treating it as a domestic although it’s too early to say what exactly happened.”

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: “Officers were called at about 6.15pm yesterday to reports of a woman and a child injured at a flat in Lynton Road, Lynton Estate, Southwark

“Three people were taken to hospital - a woman, aged 28, who was suffering a neck wound; a girl, aged 17 months, who was unhurt and a man aged 31 who was suffering serious stab wounds.

“A four-year-old boy found at the address was suffering stab injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene. We know the identity of the dead child but not all next of kin have been notified at this stage.

"The death is being investigated by the Child Abuse Investigation Command Major Investigation Team. Dates are awaited for a post mortem examination and an inquest.

"At this stage, we are looking into all the circumstances surrounding the child’s death but there have been no arrests and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.”

I wonder if they were known to social services?

I couldn't believe this when I heard it on the radio today!!! It made me so angry I actually swore quite loudly. How can any father do this to his family?

i couldn't bear to read all of it...heartbreaking .....and even more tragic is that we are hearing about this sort of thing more and more.... are people losing their minds all over the place ... or is it that the children were not really wanted in the first place.
