The McCanns contend the book defames them by questioning their version of events.

Is it me or is that a new way of describing why they are suing? I thought they were suing because he was saying she is dead and that because of this people would not come forward and the search would be hampered.

Now it seems all you have to do is question McCanns' version of events and you get sued Problem for everyone is of course knowing which of the many versions they have come up with you are allowed to use.

The last report says it was Amaral's lawyer who did not turn up for health reasons, this report in the Daily Mail says it Amaral himself who is ill

Madeleine McCann's parents were left frustrated today after a judge postponed a libel traial against former Portuguese policeman Goncalo Amaral.
Kate and Gerry McCann flew to Lisbon to attend the opening of the trial - but a judge has delayed it for a month after Amaral did not turn up to court.
He missed the start of the trial for health reasons, court sources said. The trial has been postponed until January 12.

Amaral was in Court. It is his lawyer's secretary who has swine flue so Mr Amaral's lawyer was told to stay home (quarantine), which is normal procedure. Has happened to people I know who had close contact with other people who had swine flu.

But surely they will have taken this opportunity to rush to Praia da Luz and see all their friends there and search for their missing daughter? They were said to be going there anyway. This will have given them more time.
