During the next few days a court will finally hear some evidence, after two and a half years of rumour, counter-rumour and invention. There is a good chance that what is testified will throw light on the claims from both sides, and those testimonies matter, in the long term, more than the verdict itself. If Goncalo Amaral wins but the evidence fails to show that he was representative of the case, rather than an isolated figure, then the verdict will have limited value. Conversely, if he loses it will still be what those police or law officers say that will be remembered, not the judge’s words.

We shall see. For the time being, the Blacksmith Bureau’s job is done – as well as we could do it – since, it appears, people will be free to judge that evidence for themselves.

I, for one, will be sending out a prayer to God, that some justice will be done.

Not religious myself but so will I eddie.

Difficult though it seems after all this time, official moves are the best we could hope for at this point imho, and although I'm going to find it hard to keep the faith it's certainly been a long time coming and maybe this is just a time to pause, and observe...

And keep all bits crossed that right will prevail.

I'm so nervous - I'm hopeful, but aware that we've all been disappointed before. I hope it goes well for Dr Amaral.

Sorry but at this moment in time I am not hopeful. No justice has been done so far which makes me think justice is a very very long way off. Sorry for being so pessimistic. But I could well be wrong. After tomorrow we may have a better idea of how things are likely to go. I thought it was a step back when the one UK witness was not allowed to give evidence. Seems wrong to me.

I do know how you fell Mary, it is like the McCann's are destined to get away with it all.

Yes, me too. Hoping, praying, willing, for Goncalo to have luck and justice on his side. I have to admit though, I am extremely nervous.

I must say I am feeling a little cautiously optimistic. After today's hearing. At least it has been fair. But strange how not much about it in the UK press. I expect there will be a lot more once the McCann witnesses take the stand. As if they are the only ones that matter. It truly has been shockingly biaised reporting from day one.

Very true MaryB, but as our exalted leader and defender of the faith, Gordon Brown stated, "It's all in the interests of National Security".

IT DOESNT MATTER WHO WINS OR LOSES TOMORROW.......MR AMARAL WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR ONE THING...TRYING TO GET JUSTICE FOR A LITTLE GIRL WHO WAS NELGLECTED AND LOST HER LIFE DUE TO THAT....AND THE MCCANNS....WHAT WILL THEY BE REMEMBERED FOR......THEY WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR ABANDONING 3 CHILDREN ALONE ALL AGED UNDER FOUR IN A STRANGE APT AND ONE OFF THEM LOST THEIR LIFE DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE.

THEY CAN SUE FOR MILLIONS AND WIN BUT THIS MONEY, THIS BLOOD MONEY WONT GIVE THEM THE REPUTATION THEY ARE HOPING FOR, THERES NO HOPE OFF THAT.

Alot off people didnt know about the dogs, thanks to brunty they do now.

I for one didnt know that the mccanns may off been arrested for kidnapping, child trafficking, murder etc.

The newscasters have to say some positive things and negative things to balance things out like brunty did and as for saying the mccanns were made arquidos because off a 'dream' well......if all the clarvoyants who said they saw so and so murdering the man down the road and then locked them up because off their 'visions' our police cells would be fall up by now lol....
