I think he's one of two mentioned in chapter 6 of the book. One of them asked Kate where her daughter was and they both got sent packing.
ETA: Amaral says the officers were very experienced and that they gave the McCanns every possible assistance.

You're right.Although I'm not ready to celebrate yet (not that the death of a child is anything to rejoice about..), it is huge that we are hearing these facts in a court room. Not so easy for the media to dismiss them as internet rumours!!
Sure that the McCann lawyers will try their utmost to discredit all these witnesses though..

Fedrules, it's an adversarial courtroom situation. So, of course there is going to be efforts to discredit!
