Very Efficient Police Work by Spanish and French Police and Interpol
Three people have been arrested by Spanish Police in Tarragona
National Police on Tuesday arrested three people, two Pakistani men and a Romanian woman, in Constantí, Tarragona, in connection with the kidnapping of the five year old British child, Sahil Saheed, in Pakistan at the start of the month.
The child who comes from Oldham, near Manchester, is now reported to be found and well, but the police investigations continue open.
El País quotes police sources as saying the kidnappers were part of a group which had asked for as much as 90,000 € ransom.
Ransom phone calls were reportedly traced to Spain and some reports speak of a long-standing family debt.

I understand Spanish/French Police and Interpol involved. A good job done all round by all accounts.
Now what did the Spanish Police think of the McCanns?

When you see how quickly this case was solved I am convinced that if Maddie had truly been abducted, the police would have solved it right away.

Hiya LJC, an excellent outcome, this is what you get when everyone co-operates, including the family.

Exactly, but not the mccanns or friends, they couldn't co-operative or they would be sitting in the clink in Portugal now.
Unfortunately they are sitting at home planning their next money making move.

I thnk the Mc's have been strangely quiet on this abduction. They won't like it, that the Spanish Police have sorted this out so quickly.

Oh no, you must have got that wrong. Since when has a foreign police force been able to do anything right? They're all negligent, they don't even seem to realise there's only one missing child in the world and her name is Madeleine and they're all supposed to be looking for her, they couldn't find a tractor in a haystack, there isn't one of them with the sense to employ a couple of British doctors to tell them how to do their job, hopeless ... all of them ... should be sued ...

I couldnt imagine the logistics of this operation which included Pakistani, Spanish, and French police including Interpol, and they obviously overcame the language barriers. Anyone know if the family was given a British Government official to assist, or if Gordon Brown rang the family, or if anyone from the MMU or the PCC assisted them with the media. Just asking.

tanszi, I doubt very much that this family got anywhere near the amount of help the McCanns got. They'd have been given whatever they were legally entitled to, I daresay, but I'll bet there was no falling over backwards to toady to them, the way there was with Madeleine's parents.
Interesting too to see the difference in the press and tv between the two cases. Sahil disappeared off the front pages and leading news item quickly enough, even while he was still missing. No way were the papers going to treat this family the way they treat the McCanns; poor little Sahil fell short of what's seemingly necessary to become an icon - not white, not blonde, not a girl, no doctor parents. I daresay there'll be a little more publicity when he returns home, but it won't last. The press don't need him, he won't shift papers like Madeleine does - she is their golden goose (much as I hate describing her as such).

Its plainly obvious that IF madeleine was abducted she would off been found by now due to the 2m put up by the newspapers.
£100,000..thats all these people asked for sahil so i think the 2m reward is safe and will never be paid out.

I read somewhere else, €90000. I wonder if that is why Sahil's dad left Pakistan in such a hurry - to raise the ransom.
Not that it matters, the important thing is that the wee boy is safely back with his family, thank G*d.

Remeber one off the mccann family saying..'there will be somebody (in other words, scumbag) who will be itching to claim the reward....blah blah'
Anyone remember that.
That saying has come back to bite them on the bum because the 2m is still sitting their, unclaimed.

Well, probably, the difference is that in this case the parents obeyed the advice given not to say more than they had to to the press, over and above what they were expected to say.
And, of course, because armed gunmen and ransoms were involved, it wasn't such a mystery, was it?
At the end of the day the McCanns' themselves turned Madeleine's disappearance into a circus and the papers, for their part, love a good mystery to get their teeth into.
Anyway, I am overjoyed for the family.

Re: Very Efficient Police Work by Spanish and French Police and Interpol
This time the McCanns didn't send their usual prayers and thoughts to Sahil's family when the news broke, normally they cannont wait to get on the abducted child bandwagon. But then again Sahil and family are from Pakinstan, and not particularly newsworthy, he was off the front page within a day, whilst Madeleine occupied the front pages of newspapers for weeks and still does even when sightings come from Mars. I am so please little Sahil is safe and well, his father was able to get the money to save his little boy. The newspapers put up a £1million reward for any news about Madeleine's supposed abduction - no one came forward, strange that.
