Body found in Co Meath drainage ditch
Friday, 14 May 2010 12:13
A post-mortem is taking place on the body of a young man which was found partially-clothed in a ditch in Co Meath yesterday.

The body was discovered by a man out walking in Rathfeigh, between Kilmoon Cross and Duleek.

The remains were at the bottom of a drainage ditch at the edge of a field close to the main Dublin to Derry road.

It is likely the remains were in the ditch for several months. They are believed to be that of a young male although no formal identification has been made.

The remains were removed to a Dublin hospital following a preliminary examination.

Gardaí are searching the area, which remains sealed-off.

Depending on the outcome, it is expected this will formally become a murder investigation later today.
