Glastonbury Festival organisers have said they're considering trialling 'climate-altering' technology at this year's event on behalf of Qatar's 2022 World Cup team.
Hassan al-Thawadi, Qatar's chief executive officer for the football tournament, approached Michael Eavis to help solve the event’s problem with unpredictable weather.

“Currently, we are researching various climate-altering methods which are environmentally friendly and very effective," said Hassan al-Thawadi.

"We'll be unveiling a number of visionary, state-of-the-art ideas and infrastructure but we need the sort of challenge that Glastonbury Festival presents to discover the productivity of our early designs,” he added.

Eavis is hoping that Worthy Farm’s recently installed solar panels will be able to power the new equipment. “We’re expecting it to be a hot festival again, so it’s just the right time to try out this new technology. Exciting isn’t it?" he said.

“They also assure me that they can help move rain clouds away from the farm," added the organiser.

The remaining balance for Glastonbury Festival tickets can be paid from today until 7 April.
