Many of you will have seen reports or ads about a missing schoolboy Daniel Morcombe from the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

He's my nephew, and my brother Bruce and his wife Denise, have raised over $100,000 to fund an advertising campaign which is currently underway, in an attempt to solve Daniel's abduction, and hopefully to capture the person or persons involved.
There has been wonderful coverage of this tragic event, including "Australian Story" on the ABC, and a major article in the current edition of "The Australian Women's Weekly", but still the crime is not solved.
The police now think two men were probably involved, together with a "blue car" as per the composite photo above.
Sending out emails may hopefully trigger someone's memory, or someone's conscience, and makes the image of Daniel and the "blue car" above available for longer than is available on an ad.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could forward this email on to all your email contacts, friends, relatives and business contacts, in the hope that someone will be able to provide the missing clue that the police are looking for.
If everyone has just five email contacts, who each have five email contacts, who each have five email contacts, who each have five email contacts etc., we'll reach well over a million people eventually.

HOUSE SOLD TO FUND SEARCH

THE family of a missing Queensland schoolboy has auctioned off an investment property to continue to fund the search for him.
Daniel Morcombe, 12, disappeared six months ago while waiting for a bus near his home at Palmwoods on the Sunshine Coast.
About $1 million already has been donated to the fund to find the youngster. His parents, Denise and Bruce Morcombe, say more money is needed.
The couple yesterday sold their investment property for $350,000, which will be directed into a radio, print and television campaign.

Daniel Morecombe's Mother Speaks About Her Loss

DENISE Morcombe hasn't seen her son Daniel since he vanished near a Queensland highway overpass in 2003, but she prefers to think he's dead.
As the first anniversary of the disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann approaches, Mrs Morcombe spoke to NEWS.com.au about the torment of having a child simply disappear.

Daniel was last seen at a bus stop on the Nambour Connection Rd on the Sunshine Coast on December 7, 2003.
Then aged 13, he was going to catch a bus to a local shopping centre to get a haircut and buy some Christmas presents.
A massive police hunt and community campaign to find Daniel came up empty, but Mrs Morcombe and her husband, Bruce, are still working full-time to find their beloved son.
While the family - including Daniel's twin Bradley and older brother Dean - still live in the Sunshine Coast town of Palmwoods, they now move in different circles.
“We’ve got a new group of friends,” Mrs Morcombe said.
“It was difficult being around some of our old ones (because) it would be hard seeing their kids grow up.”
When asked if she thought her son was still alive and whether she still might get the chance to see him grow older, Mrs Morcombe said: “I wouldn’t think so”.
“I would hate to think what he has been through (if he is alive).”

When he disappeared, Daniel was wearing a red Billabong T-shirt and dark cargo pants and carried a distinctive fob watch engraved with the word “Dan”, as well as a brown wallet.

'Closer to finding him'
Mrs Morcombe said she was still optimistic she'd one day discover what happened to her son.
“After all these years, I think we could only be closer (to finding him)," she said.
“You’d think someone must know the answer.”
In the wake of his disappearance, passing motorists reported seeing a man leaning against a the wall of an underpass near where Daniel was waiting for the bus.
Witnesses described the man as aged 25-35, about 175cm tall, with a lean to muscular build, gaunt face, weathered complexion, dark brown wavy hair and a goatee beard.
The Morecombes have since set up a foundation in the hope of finding Daniel and to assist other victims of crime.
Mrs Morcombe said the Daniel Morcombe Foundation had received plenty of phone calls and emails, but said anyone with information should contact CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.

McCanns contact parents of missing Australia boy.

Post  lynn on Wed 6 May - 4:39

McCanns contact parents of missing Australian boy, Daniel Morcombe! Pity the parents of Daniel having contact with the McCanns as for sure they will try to get Daniel's parents to follow their path.....money....but, doubt if the Morcombes would stoop so low. Hope they will be way of any ventures the McCanns have in mind. Users, the McCanns are.

One glance at the Morcombe family breaks the heart. The sadness is always there and Mrs Morcombe has suffered particularly badly, (as have the family). The McCanns for some reason have contacted them, probably via a website. The Morcombe case is still open and there are police full time on the job of finding Daniel.

Lynn the difference between the McCanns and the Morcombe is:

The McCanns do not offer the reward while its still fresh.....
The Morcombes lost their child in 2003 and again, only last December offered a 1M reward....

The Morcombe case is one of the most extensively investigated crimes in Queensland's criminal history. As of the 12 December 2008 the Morcombe family has offered a total reward of $1,000,000 ($250,000 from the Government and another $750,000 privately).

Daniel's disappearance was widely discussed in the Australian media and brought the issue of child safety to public attention.

The Morcombe family has started a foundation, the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, and has put all its resources into trying to find out what happened to Daniel. The foundation is committed to educating children about personal safety and to raising awareness throughout Australia of the dangers of predatory criminals.

Yes, when Daviel went missing it was big news. It was heartwrenching to see his parents on TV and it has been heart wrenching ever since. His mother has suffered dreadfully, and his father had under the house a "something" for the abductor/murderer when caught. There was absolutely no doubt there was suffering by the whole family! The McCanns make me feel angry because of their lies. There are new leads on Daniel's abductor and one pedo has been named, and there are other pedos of interest. It would be a miracle if Daniel were found alive!

This is disgusting. This piece of scum has been released from prison once for raping a 9 year old boy, after he was released he raped a 9 year old girl. Just watching this TV clip and it states he is to be released from prison again?????? WTF?????????? This has made me so angry. Even if he had nothing to do with this case, the bastard should be kept locked up until he dies.

Jail has done this pedo no good! As soon as he is let out he is at it again. Apparently, nothing can be done medically to stop the behaviour! There will be a hue and cry if he gets out though, plus all the others that serve time which is nothing but a farce isn't it!

Exactly and the fact that he's been in prison once for such a terrible crime and been let and committed further offences the Authorities should realise he is a danger to ALL children and he shouldn't get out again. It's obvious he'll re-offend. Quite frankly Lynn I'd give all these peodo's a lethal injection. They don't deserve to live after what they've done. They are totally sick individuals.

Actually, Pabby, a psychiatrist said quite openly to the media that nothing will help stop pedos...only a bit of lead. So, just goes to show how serious the situation is. There was a case in Queensland where a pedo was moved to a quiet town, and whole town protested and police were called in to protect the pedo. The whole exercise cost thousands of dollars! That particular pedo was and is very clever in hiding what he gets up to. An injustice to let them out into society.

There is no cure for pedophilia so the problem will never end if they keep letting them out....and a little thing called human rights is far bigger than the victims rights!

Such a beautiful child, I cant imagine the families pain.

Quarry site fits Daniel tip-off
Anne-Louise Brown | 4th January 2010

Daniel Morcombe.
A WATER-FILLED mine being drained in the search for the body of a missing woman may also hold the key to solving the mystery of Daniel Morcombe’s disappearance.
In December 2003, 13-year-old Daniel vanished from the Nambour Connection Road, and it is believed he was abducted and murdered.
No trace of what happened to Daniel has ever been found.
Over the years Daniel’s parents, Bruce and Denise Morcombe, have received numerous tip-offs as to what might have happened to their son.
Several years ago, Mr Morcombe’s interest was piqued by information given to him by a man who worked in Corrective Services.
The man told Mr Morcombe that he believed Daniel’s body had been rolled up in carpet, put in the boot of a car and dumped in a water-filled mine or quarry about an hour west of Brisbane.
“The man identified a very deep quarry now filled with water outside of Brisbane as a criminal dumping ground for evidence from crimes, like stolen cars and possibly bodies,” Mr Morcombe said.
“He suggested he had been given information from prisoners alluding to the fact Daniel was down there in a car boot.”
Several weeks ago police began draining a site called Green Lakes at Riverview, near Ipswich.
They believe the body of 31-year-old Ipswich woman Dulcie Birt, who disappeared in October, was dumped there. It is believed Ms Birt, a mother of three, was murdered.
Green Lakes is an old coal mine filled with water, about 30m in depth.
Green Lakes bears an eerie resemblance to the location described to Bruce and police have reported pumping problems caused by dumped car wrecks in the water hole.
When Mr Morcombe received the tip-off, no name was given for the area and it could not be located on a map, but it’s features are consistent with Green Lakes.
“We’re always hopeful something will happen and this may be the link we’re looking for,” he said.
“It’s certainly not something we’re pinning all our hopes on though. There is just so much information.”
The tip-off had been passed onto police investigating Daniel’s disappearance.
Police declined to comment on possible links between the two cases.

Morcombes hope lake search yields answers
DANIEL HURST
January 12, 2010 .
The Greenlakes site drained by police in December and inset: missing boy Daniel Morcombe.

Daniel Morcombe's parents are taking a keen interest in a police search of a lake near Ipswich, where they believe the Sunshine Coast schoolboy's body may have been dumped.

Ipswich police last month partially drained a lake at an old quarry near Riverview, west of Brisbane, to less than half its normal depth as part of a separate missing person investigation.

Police are looking for clues following the suspected murder of local woman Dulcie Birt, 31, but have refused to comment on suggestions other bodies may have been dumped in the Greenlakes site.

Bruce Morcombe, whose 13-year-old son was last seen waiting by a Nambour bus stop in 2003, said he would watch with interest because of a tip-off he received from a former Corrective Services officer several years ago.

"One piece of information - out of a couple of hundred we received - was that Daniel's remains were rolled up inside a piece of carpet and that carpet was in the boot of a vehicle, that was dumped in a disused quarry," he told brisbanetimes.com.au.

"That quarry was filled with water, and it was somewhere on the western side of Brisbane."

However, Mr Morcombe said he had "no firm evidence" the Greenlakes site could hold clues to his son's disappearance.

"I understand that this location was a common haunt or dumping ground for criminals, stolen cars and one can imagine what else," he said.

"Honestly, as the father of Daniel, I'm keen for any information that comes out of that [search] just in case that happens to be where these abductors happen to have disposed of Daniel's body."

Detective Senior Sergeant Tom Armitt, from Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch, said he could not comment on the possibility of other bodies having been dumped in the lake.

"Any speculation on that is just pure speculation," he said.

However, he confirmed the site had been used as a dumping ground for vehicles, making it a dangerous place for divers to explore.

"It's obviously been used as a dumping ground in the area since it was flooded in 1974, so there is an accumulation of material on the bottom of the lake from the last 36 years," he said.

Senior Sergeant Armitt said the lake had been drained from a depth of 38 metres to 15 metres in the lead up to Christmas.

Police were talking to the owners of the property and the Department of Mines and Energy about the feasibility of draining the lake further, he said.

Dulcie Birt, also known as Darcy, was last seen at 76 Old Ipswich Road in Riverview about 8.30pm on October 21 last year.

She left her home in a green 1998 Mitsubishi Triton four wheel drive ute on the night of her disappearance.

Police have reportedly identified a person of interest in her disappearance, but no charges have been laid.

Last month, officers said they had located "potential evidence" during their searches of the Riverview area, but would not reveal what they had found.

I just cant imagine living and searching and never knowing. Yes I agree it would bring closure and bring their loved child home again. I just read that his mother cant move because she cant leave him and the area, and has things in the laundry basket that she cant face still.

Having to read tip offs saying that a paedophile ring referred to your child as "Christmas cake" must be as close to a living hell as there can be.

Daniel's disappearance has been kept in the public eye, especially on the anniversaries of his disappearance, due to the efforts of his parents, the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and its supporters. The case has been widely discussed and these efforts are supported by the Australian media on each anniversary.

A "Day for Daniel" is held on the 30th of October each year to promote awareness and protect children from harm. An accompanying event is the "Ride for Daniel", which covers 50 km of the Sunshine Coast, held each year since 2005.[7]

The Morcombe family started the "Daniel Morcombe Foundation", and has put its resources into trying to find out what happened to their son. The foundation is committed to educating children about personal safety and to raising awareness throughout Australia of the dangers of predatory criminals.

To date Daniel is still missing.

australian teenager daniel Morcombe inquest to begin on Monday

Post  Justiceforallkids on Sun 10 Oct - 8:25

Morcombe inquest to begin on Monday
http://au.news.yahoo.com/latest/a/-/latest/8102290/morcombe-inquest-to-begin-on-monday/

An inquest into the disappearance and suspected abduction of teenager Daniel Morcombe will begin on Monday.

Daniel was 13 when he went missing on December 7, 2003 under the Kiel Mountain Road overpass on the Nambour Connection Road on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

He'd set out to catch a bus to go shopping when he disappeared without a trace.

The inquest, which will be held at the Maroochydore Coroners Court, was arranged at the request of Daniel's parents, Bruce and Denise Morcombe, who have fought determinedly to solve the mystery of their son's disappearance.

Dozens of people who could hold the key to cracking the case are expected to be questioned during the five-day hearing.

The inquest will investigate whether Daniel is still alive.

If not, authorities are hoping to determine how, when and where he died, and what caused his death.

The inquest will also examine the adequacy of the immediate police response to the report that Daniel was missing, and the subsequent investigation.

Mr Morcombe told AAP last month that he was hopeful the inquest, which will delve into previously unreleased information on the case, can shed light on his son's fate.

"I'm quietly confident that the material that is there and is presented to the coroner is sufficient to make certain persons of interest nervous and on edge," he said.

"And we're hoping that that will weaken people's alibis and confidence that 'Hey, we've got away with this'."

The Queensland government has posted a $250,000 reward for information about the case, offering conditional indemnity from prosecution.
State Coroner Michael Barnes will preside over the inquest.
