Its ooh soo quiet!

I'm sure that everyone, like myself, have
noticed the 'quiteness' that has stiffled the
forums, the blogs and the media, and in fact,
there appears to be an erriness that only total
silence brings.
Mccannfiles is down, Joana's site has been
struck by the quite bug. Spudgun and Dr Roberts
don't post, the forums are generally inactive
and ooh soo quite and a lot of posters either
sit dormant or have left the building!
So, is the the proverbial quite before the storm?
or just plain excruciating fatigue?

McCann files is DOWN!!?????????????????????????????????????????????? Holy Moley.

I'm in the "calm before the storm" camp. Heavily.

I believe it has had technical hitchs,
not been updated since April.

Also their official facebook page has not let people post for weeks. You can only comment on anything officially posted.

I doubt that Leveson has much to do with it - the Review proceeds in its own sweet way and it would be remarkable if our Portuguese friends were not in the loop.

The Press have hides of leather and once they are sure of their ground they will turn tail regardless of Leveson.

There's nothing much appears to be happening, so there's nothing to comment on. No big mystery.

Yeah, all the forums go through a lull every so often - don't worry, I'm sure that Antonella Lazzeri is sharpening her crayons as we speak and there will soon be another silly season of stories.

By the way the McCann Files site isn't down, not for me anyway.

I think Leveson is the key.

Much hinges on stuff that could come out of the parade of political and media types being softly grilled by Mr Jay. Who knows what might emerge. The fragrant medical pair have been mentioned - mainly in terms of 'what rotten treatment they have had from the media'.

We probably won't learn much more, but who knows. There are bigger issues than the McCanns being teased out, perhaps a nugget or two may emerge as a throwaway headline.

Patience is paramount.

I think Leveson has opened a can of worms
that may indirectly influence a part of the
review. It has transpired that the press and
politics have been 'in it together' which must
rate as an onslaught and corruption of all basic
democratic principles of government.
Through all this wheeling and dealing, Murdoch
had his man in Dowling Street, his eyes and
ears on British politics, and most PMs and

So, whats this gotta do with the review?
It was Blair that sent a spin-doctor who
had close connections to both NI and Andy
Coulston in order to manage the McCann affair.
This decision may have been a result of the
tail, being Murdoch, wagging the dog.

If Leveson does have any influence - and I don't think that that particular self-aggrandising but otherwise worthless and time/money wasting enquiry will/should affect any properly run Review - It might at least help ensure there is no impropriety or susceptibility to external pressure (but I have no reason to doubt the current Team are anything but Professional anyway).

At least the Leveson Inquiry has cost less than the SY `review` of one couple`s child.

The Leveson Inquiry has been a great eye-opener for all and much has been exposed even though half the witnesses are suffering from memory lapses. I`m so glad it`s taking place. Two million pounds is the cost being stated. But the McCann review will be well over that by the time its finished.

I'm just praying that behind the scenes people are working very hard to ensure that justice is done for Madeleine.

Maybe the Express will put something in the paper tomorrow or perhaps another sighting is on the cards. A run with the Olympic torch would've been a good marketing ploy.

Yes, it has been quiet on the McCann front lately. Could that be because of the Jubilee celebrations? I remember last year "the" book launch was delayed so as not to coincide with the royal wedding.

As Ian Hislop pointed out at the enquiry, there are already laws in place to deal with the problem. He is very much against new laws being introduced.
All that needs and needed to be done is to implement the law as it stands. New laws will in effect be the end of free speech altogether. imo.
The internet remains the main problem and I wonder when and how they are going to try and tackle that.

I am quite concerned as well - steelmagnoliia has a large bold sign on her site - BLOG CLOSED - does anyone know if she has had any threats? I assume Joana may be busy ?

maccannfiles.co.uk has been set up for overspill and any problems. There are articles from Spudgun and Blackwatch. Plus Sky videos but I can't get them to work.

Joana once said that she would only update her site, when any new information came to light. I would have thought she would have put a thread regarding the press regulation, having to satisfy the McCanns. I hope all is well with Joana and her team.
