Looking back, Ed Smethurst went to Portugal with Gerry, presumably to meet up with Isobel Duarte to arrange the suit against Amaral. Smethurst is a Corporate Lawyer for Brian Kennedy's Companies, Duarte is a mad woman given to Courtroom histrionics so it is possible the McCanns have been ill advised. I have already pointed out why I think the McCanns claims are ludicrous and their claim for E1.2 million more than anything the Portugese have ever dealt with.

The McCanns don't want to face the Portugese public again who are probably outraged that their Portugese Judiciary is suspected of a sloppy investigation but if the Judge agrees they can use a video link I shall be very disappointed. How Cameron is to heal the rift with Portugal over this insult to a Country which has been a Friend remains to be seen. If nothing is found from this review to suggest the Portugese did not do their job properly , will Cameron and the McCanns have the grace to apologise.

Isn't there a review in Portugal by another Police dept. in Oporto?
