I'm getting a feeling that this Trial is not going to go the way the McCanns expected and Parris of the Spectator a long time ago said if the Press ever discovered that the McCanns had misled them they would show no mercy. The reason they tried to do a deal with Amaral was not out of concern for him, maybe Carter Ruck advised them their claims have more holes than a colander and that is why Gerry is staying out of it.

Also, how can they claim Amaral's book and video affected their health when Kate wrote 2 Books in the interim and Gerry went back to work , they have also been on TV several times promoting the Book, running a Marathon, attending a Function in Richard Branson's Restaurant where an Auction took place to raise money for their fund and another charity.

I don't think the McCanns are expecting to win, having lost the last trial..... which is why they tried to stop this from going ahead (imo).  They never anticipated Dr Amaral would go the distance, and fully expected him to buckle beneath their threats and enormous financial clout.  

They have totally underestimated this brave gentleman.

That's a thought...they did win against Tony Bennett ,do we know how much of the costs he had to pay?
