wonder if the e fit will look like any of the tapas lot - i mean all the checking going on they have to be seen near the apartment dont they ?

Have they ever issued an e-fit of the man the Smiths saw carrying a child.  I don't recall that they ever have.

Are they going to wait until next week on Crimewatch to show this? Surely if they have it they should show it asap?

British detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are releasing a new picture of a possible suspect.

The then four-year-old vanished from her family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in the Algarve on May 3, 2007, as her parents dined at a nearby restaurant with friends.

Police want to question a man, who according to new witnesses, was seen somewhere around the apartment at the relevant time.

Sky's Crime Correspondent Martin Brunt said: "In the next couple of days Scotland Yard are going to put out an artist's impression - an e-fit - of this man, who is clearly being regarded as a suspect - although Scotland Yard tell me that until they identify him and question him, they really don't know where he fits into this jigsaw that they are increasingly putting together.

"On Monday, they are going to be talking more fully about this man

"They will give some idea of what witnesses have said about his behaviour, but he fits into the picture.

"They are concentrating on this man in particular.

"I am told that there may be a number of e-fit - electronic fit - images put out.

"They will be making an appeal for new witnesses to come forward if they recognise this man. Firstly, if they saw him, or somebody around the apartment six years ago, or indeed if they recognise him now."

do we the uk public usually get the heads up what is going to be asked on crime watch no - the all idea of it is to get members of the public to ring in with information - usually in cold cases they say things like people may have a change of heart of what they did or didnt see on the night crime happened - and usually in these cases the person - child they are looking for is usually dead

It's remains me of the German broadcast XYZ ( equivalent of Crimewatch). The day after the broacast, on the street, people looked at each others with suspicion.A man was once nearly lynched because he was unfortunate enough to bear a strong resemblance with the suspect.

'Jigsaw' does seem to be a popular word at the moment.

Must have been quite busy down that little road at the relevant time what with Jane, Gerry, Jez, the new suspect and the new witnesses. Does make me wonder why these new witnesses didn't come forward earlier...

its sickening - they are saying madeleine is alive and they are printing e fits of the abductor - what do they think this will do to nutty abductor - omg and if they state madeline un harmed again i will sc:Arghh:  ream

If the hypothesis put forward by us all in this forum is correct, then there was help given to the Tapas group from other(s), in my opinion. Therefore it is credible that there are other(s) outside of that group that need to be found. I'm not trying to be over positive, I don't know what to make of anything any more, but I am certain there was outside involvement that night. Those person(s) could eventually turn out to be the weakest link.

On the other hand based on their recent performance if what is in the press is true, I wouldn't ask SY to help
find my missing shoe. Time will tell....

Knowing Redwood (not that I do personally) it's prob be a picture of Amaral since the Met seem to be trying to influence the libel trial

That's what I'm wondering and why they didn't come forward in the first place. If you were in the vicinity at the relevant time and had seen something suspicious, surely with all the publicity, you would talk to the PJ.
