Note that the aforementioned Spamela comment has been self-edited.
What she originally wrote was:
The infamous Enid O'Dowd!
(She bottled out of that one ...)

And I don't regret it one little bit.
I hate it when people lie to me.
And as sure as hell, I'm not going to PAY people to lie to me.
Now that S & S are on the scene, we're getting personal insults as well as lies.
Why on earth would I buy that book, or a newspaper which parrots the insults of the authors of that book?
I'm not going to PAY people to insult me either.
Hit them where it hurts the most.
In their wallets.
Sad to say, it's the only language they understand.
Mass media has tentacles that reach across the globe - it's a conspiracy of silence about the mystery of Madeleine's "disappearance".

Bad publicity is better then no publicity at all. I bet they have wanted this from the start.

Why get uptight about an article in the Irish Examiner? Who reads the Irish Examiner? I'd never even heard of it until I started following this case.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who that it's namin'
For the loser now will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'
Bob Dylan

Re: "Torrent of hate" for new Madeleine book - Irish Examiner
A dossier on the abuse against the McCanns - similar in nature to the abuse directed against the authors - has now been submitted to the Metropolitan Police by a group of concerned internet 'watchers'.
"As part of our research into the hate campaign, one of the people we interviewed was part of the group that recently passed a dossier and a letter of concern to the Metropolitan Police Commissioner," Robbyn explained.
BINGO.
Of course, we all know where they got their info from, but it's useful to have it straight from the horse's mouth ...
Let's cut through the spin here.
You write a book that is so one-sided that even before the launch you have to insist that you've exonerated the McCanns. That aroused a huge amount of suspicion and red flags straightaway.
You then proceed to insult all those who seek justice for Madeleine (with help from we-know-who) by labelling them 'haters' who 'propagate poison' and 'cowards hiding behind keyboards'.
With those two actions alone you have totally alienated most of your potential book buyers/readership.
Result - lousy sales figures. It's a simple Supply and Demand situation in a free market.
And that's OUR fault?
"It's high time for a walk on the real side" - as somebody once sang ...

Re: "Torrent of hate" for new Madeleine book - Irish Examiner
Blimey.....first we have ...Brit police clear the mccanns...now we have ....Authors face web abuse for stance on McCanns
Couple call for crackdown on internet 'trolls' after their BOOK clears missing Madeleine's parents
That's it then ...apart from one thing......Brit police or a book can't clear the Mccanns...only the Portuguese can ...and they havent

If this doesn't warrant a complaint to Summers and Swan's publishers, I don't know what does ...

Re: "Torrent of hate" for new Madeleine book - Irish Examiner
Early this morning the S & S book was listed at 92,740 in the Amazon Bestsellers Rankings.
But have no fear, it has now leapt, nay soared, up to a magnificent 86,441!
Phew!
That must place it somewhere between:
My Dirty Dossier by A Portly-Snitcher and Clarrie And The Media by Ben Dover and Ivor Sawbutt.
Schadenfreude.
Almost as good as karma.
