The McCanns would welcome new searches.........but not a reconstruction.

In February 2008, a team of divers hired by Portuguese lawyer Marcos Aragao Correia searched the Barragem do Arada reservoir, which is 35 miles east of Praia da Luz.

The human rights lawyer claimed that underworld criminals told him Madeleine was dumped in a nearby lake that was “deserted with lots of trees and a beach area” - however the search came to nothing.

Seems to be the same reservoir as the one searched back in 2008 at the instigation of Marcos Aragao Correia.... where they found kitten bones and a sock, or whatever.

If they just found a note with no name and nobody came forward as writing it, it would not have made any sense to follow an anonymous lead.

According to phone pings, Russell travelled in the direction of Barragen da Bravura on his 68 km trip to Aljezur, when supposedly the group did not have access to a car:

Despite there being no other records from the mobile phones of the other members of the group outside the antennae of Luz, there exist gaps in the times [of the records] that make it possible for one of them to have accompanied him. Therefore, accepting that Russell was effectively in the coverage area of that antenna, then on this date the members of the group would already have had access to a motor vehicle.

Hi Wintabells, yes it looks like it. I thought they were different reservoirs but if Joana says they are the same I will trust her word.

A friend of Kate and Gerry McCann said: "Any widening of the search area is encouraging and we would welcome that. It does sound as though there is more vigour in that aspect of the inquiry which is good."

He added that while it would be a "tragedy" for the family if police searches eventually yield the little girl's body, at least it would help lift the cloud of suspicion from them.

"If she is dead then she is dead but not by their hand," he said......Disgusting thing to say.

Hi Wintabells, yes it looks like it. I thought they were different reservoirs but if Joana says they are the same I will trust her word.

But the new article does not say Barragem do Arada (35 km away), but Barragem da Bravura (9 miles away). Pretty sure this is a different dam. The distances are not even close, 35 km vs 14 km. This, however, could be the same tip off that the McCann lawyer received, but he chose to dredge the wrong dam. Both are supposedly surrounded by heavily wooded areas.

Yes,this is why I originally thought they couldn't be the same dam. I wish someone could clarify for us.
