A Watertown, New York woman admitted Friday in U.S. District Court that she and her husband drugged and sexually abused an 8-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl.
Amanda D. Jansen, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to transport minors in interstate commerce, with the intent that the minors engage in unlawful sexual activity, as well as two counts of aggravated sexual abuse.
Her husband, Christopher I. Jansen, 28, pleaded guilty to the same charges Oct. 16.
As part of their guilty pleas, both admitted that in June 2008, Christopher Jansen traveled to Kentucky to pick up four children, ages 13, 8, 5 and 3, and that he brought them to Watertown for a summer visit.
The Jansens admitted they planned and conspired to sexually abuse the children while they were in their care. As part of the conspiracy, they also admitted sending text messages to one another about sexual acts they wanted to perform with the children.
Amanda Jansen faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 30 years and a maximum sentence of life in prison. Christopher Jansen faces a mandatory life sentence. Sentencing is set for Feb. 19.
They still face a seven-count Jefferson County grand jury indictment, including two counts each of predatory sexual assault on a child, for alleged acts against a 1-year-old girl.
Their arrests in September 2008 stemmed from a "cyber tip" given to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Based on the tip, a warrant was executed at their South Hycliff Drive apartment, where child pornography allegedly was found.
A state police investigator said at the time of their arrests that Amanda Jansen was a soldier in the 10th Mountain Division's 710th Brigade Support Battalion at Fort Drum and that her husband worked with computers.

Certainly not the type of people Gerry McCann would personally consider a sexual risk to young children that's for sure. A husband & wife and a SOLDIER of the US. Army? Yes, Gerry, real child abusers are whom you would least expect them to be.
