Police believe missing grandmother Concetta Leone is wandering the streets confused, and they remain confident they will find her alive.
The 84-year-old was last seen walking north on Pascoe Vale Rd. She had crossed the street and was heading towards Broadmeadows shopping centre about 4.20pm (AEDT) last Monday.
Her bank account remains untouched.
Ms Leone's niece Jennie Cioccio said the family were encouraged by the fact they had not received any bad news.
"We just think no news is good news," she told reporters.
"Poor little Concetta wouldn't hurt a fly."
CCTV footage shows the Brunswick grandmother at Broadmeadows train station.
Her grandson Mario Leone, 36, said she had boarded a Coburg train but got off before it left the station.
Detective Senior Constable Matt McKenzie said he was "extremely confident" police would find Ms Leone alive. He said there had been several possible sightings of her.
"Some we have been able to discount, they have not been Concetta, and there are some other ones we are still going through," he told reporters outside Broadmeadows station.
Det Snr Const McKenzie said police believed Ms Leone might have become confused on Monday morning before she went missing.
"We're still hopeful that Concetta is still alive and that she's just confused and hopefully walking the streets," he said.
Mario Leone said the last time the family saw his grandmother was about 10am the day she went missing before she left her sister-in-law's home on Errol Street, Brunswick, to return to her own house on the same street.
"Since Monday we've been out (looking for her) every day until all hours of the night," he said.
"Emotionally everyone is drained and exhausted.
"She's a fantastic woman - gentle, kind-hearted - and we all want her back."
Ms Leone's family is distributing up to 10,000 pamphlets with Ms Leone's photo and information in the hope someone will recognise her.
Anyone with information was urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
