Re: THE DOMINO EFFECT IN THE MIDDLE EAST
Gaddafi's Son Mutassim 'Captured In Sirte'
6:02am UK, Thursday October 13, 2011
Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's son Mutassim has been captured, Libyan
officials have said - as anti-Gaddafi forces continue to pound the
ousted dictator's last supporters in the city of Sirte.
The National Transitional Council said Mutassim Gaddafi was arrested trying to flee the city in a car with his family.
There were celebrations on the streets of Benghazi, the power base of
the revolution, where reports said he was taken on Wednesday morning to
be questioned.
During the battle for Libyan capital Tripoli in August, it was
claimed three of Col Gaddafi's sons - Saif al Islam, Saadi and Mohammed -
had been seized by anti-Gaddafi fighters.
But they either escaped or the claims were incorrect.
Heavy fighting has taken place in Col Gaddafi's home town of Sirte
The former dictator's fifth son was widely reported to be leading the defence of Gaddafi's home town of Sirte, which the interim government's fighters say they are slowly bringing under their control.
"More than 80% of Sirte is now under our control. Gaddafi's men are
still in parts of the Number Two and the 'Dollar' neighbourhoods,"
National Transitional Council commander Mustah Hamza said.
Pro-Gaddafi forces have mounted a tenacious defence of Sirte since
the interim government's forces began besieging the city on September
15.

Gunbattles In Tripoli Spark Insurgency Fears
6:19pm UK, Saturday October 15, 2011
There are fears of an insurgency against Libya's new rulers after
clashes between pro and anti-Gaddafi supporters shook Tripoli, leaving
at least three people dead.
The fighting was the first sign of armed resistance to the National
Transitional Council (NTC) there since the-then rebels seized the
capital and ended Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's 42-year rule in August.
The violence appeared to be isolated and involved dozens of Gaddafi
loyalists who exchanged heavy machinegun fire with hundreds of NTC
fighters in pick-up trucks in the Abu Salim neighbourhood.
Earlier in the day, local residents said a group of up to 50 armed
men had turned up in the district, which is traditionally supportive of
the deposed dictator, and chanted pro-Gaddafi slogans.
Members of the NTC claimed clashes also broke out in three nearby areas.
One NTC fighter said: "Gaddafi told them in a message last night to
rise up after Friday prayers. That's why these few people have come out
and are causing this problem."
Two Gaddafi supporters and one NTC fighter were killed in the
violence in the city while another 30 people were wounded, said the NTC.
The unrest in Tripoli coincided with prolonged battles in Sirte,
where NTC forces are still tackling pro-Gaddafi fighters holed up in a
small area of Col Gaddafi's home town.
Gaddafi's forces in Sirte are surrounded and have little hope of
victory, but are still fighting on, inflicting casualties with
rocket-propelled grenades, mortars and small arms.
The ousted dictator himself is believed to be hiding somewhere in the vast desert of southern Libya.
Since he went into hiding after rebel forces captured Tripoli on
August 23, he has released a number of audio recordings calling on
loyalists to fight back.
"Some Gaddafi cells came out on the streets with guns today after
prayers but, as you can see, our forces have the situation under
control," said a senior NTC official in Tripoli.
A spokesman for the NTC in the eastern city of Benghazi dismissed
Gaddafi's armed supporters in the capital as a "fifth column" trying to
destabilise the country.
"The other thing I hear that is disturbing is that the fifth column
has been doing some drive-by shootings around Tripoli today. These are
loyalists trying to wreak havoc," he added.

'Wounded Gaddafi Captured', NTC Official Says
Ousted Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has been captured, according to a
National Transitional Council official.
"He's captured. He's wounded in both legs ... He's been taken away by
ambulance," Abdel Majid told the Reuters news agency.
Gaddafi was reportedly seized near his hometown of Sirte as he attempted to
flee in a convoy.
Mohamed Leith, another NTC military commander, told the AFP news agency: "He
has been captured. He is badly wounded, but he is still breathing."
US state department spokeswoman Beth Gosselin said Washington was aware of
the reports but could not confirm them.

HE HAS SINCE BEEN CONFIRMED DEAD. NOW WAIT AND SEE WHETHER A NEW GOVERNMENT WILL BE FORMED QUICKLY OR THE U.S. TRY TO

MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WERE SEQUESTERED BY BANKS AROUND THE WORLD, LET"S HOPE IT IS RELEASED TO GET THE COUNTRY BACK ON IT"S

THE MISRATI COUNCIL IS ONLY A CARETAKER GOVERNMENT SO ELECTIONS WILL BE HELD TO FORM A NEW GOVERNMENT.

Re: THE DOMINO EFFECT IN THE MIDDLE EAST
sky news
The ousted Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi is expected to be buried swiftly and in secret today, as Nato leaders meet to wind down the aerial campaign over the country."
There is concern about the fact that Gaddaffi is photographed alive standing up which would have meant he would have stood Trial, then dead.
Was it a Gaddaffi Loyalist who shot him so that he wouldn"t have to stand Trial, or an overexcited Rebel?
Aleardy American Oil Companies are rubbing their hands at the prospect of Contracts , let"s hope the New Government works for the people.
There was anger among some Members of the Caretaker Government that most of it"s Members are exiles, returning to Libya.

Re: THE DOMINO EFFECT IN THE MIDDLE EAST
Thanks Annabel.
If you look very closely at the video, Gaddafi is sitting up, on a stretcher? and a hand with a Pistol in aims a shot at Gaddafi from behind the man at the side of Gaddafi . This suggests is was not crossfire and a pistol very unlikely used by Rebels or Soldiers. Was this a shooting to
stop Gaddafi spilling the beans on some British and U.S. Government activities they would rather not be known.?

Re: THE DOMINO EFFECT IN THE MIDDLE EAST
Glad the tyrant is no more so his people can feel totally free and safe.
Also, l was incensed last night by people tweeting he should have been tried in a proper court, why waste that money? everyone knows he was guilty of many, many crimes he was never going to get out of this alive whilst he stayed in Libya.
Glad to know he hid in a drainpipe like a sewer rat and begged for his life and yet he still managed a better death than some of his victims.
I'm waiting to hear from that bastard Blair but he's probably best to keep schtum about his great mate, look how proud he is to shake the hand of a man responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocents..... hang on that could apply to either man....

Re: THE DOMINO EFFECT IN THE MIDDLE EAST
Yes margaret Teflon Tony has a lot to answer for when he meets his maker. The difference between him and Gaddafi is that he was a tyrant who had little regard for the welfare of his Citizens, Tony is the same but he invented a 45 minute warning to show he too had no regard
for his Citizens.
for his Citizens.

True Badboy , a Trial would have cost £millions and there was a rumour that some Governments would have been embarassed about their
"dealings" with Gaddafi. That"s why the pistol was used to shoot him, belonged to an Assassin probably from either Britain or the U.S.
