Re: Is this Armageddon for Murdoch and NewsCorp?
Some Directors of Newscorp are pushing for a new Chairmen and Chase Carey is being touted. He has worked as CEO for 2 years and is very close to
Rupert Murdoch. Much depends on how Murdoch handles himself at rhe Committee Meeting today. His son , James is considered too lightweight for
the position and has admitted paying for information. The 40% shares in Newscorp owned by the Murdoch Family has seen $6 Billion wiped off their
value since this scandal erupted.

Re: Is this Armageddon for Murdoch and NewsCorp?
Bill George of Harvard Business is being interviewed and he says it would be difficult to remove Rupert Murdoch from the Board of Newscorp because
half the Directors are Murdoch introduced, but independent Directors can gain support but will not show their hand at present. He said "there is more
to come, but I can"t say".......wonder what that could be?
He says although Rupert wants James to take over he is a lightweight and in trouble himself because he has admitted paying someone for information.,and feels Rupert should stand down for a while.
Interestingly he said Cameron was facing big problems over this

Re: Is this Armageddon for Murdoch and NewsCorp?
Well, the shaving cream throwing incident has been reported on U.S. Channels and the concensus among most interviewed was that James Brown
seemed to parry all the questions with the "I wasn"t there then" or " I don"t know anything about that." Even the Australian Prime Minister voiced
her concern about News Ltd in Australia, part of NewsCorp , suggesting that there may be an investigation.

Re: Is this Armageddon for Murdoch and NewsCorp?
Analysts are now saying that the performance of Rupert Murdoch at the Committee meeting suggests he is out of touch and should step down from
NewsCorp. Also, the internet and T.V. have been responsible for the decline in Newspapers which accounts for only 1% of Income in Newscorp so
it is possible News International will be sold.

Re: Is this Armageddon for Murdoch and NewsCorp?
FBI are to investigate whether NOTW hacked into 9/11 victims phones. At this stage the FCC , responsible for granting Licences to Radio Stations etc
is waiting to see the results. NEWSCORP has 11 Licences , including Fox News and FCC could revoke the licences under the "Good Governance" Rules, if
the FBI finds evidence. Newscorp shares increased 5% this morning in the belief that the Murdochs acquitted themselves very well.

Re: Is this Armageddon for Murdoch and NewsCorp?
Watching David Cameron in Parliament makes me despise him as a sneaky slimy snake of a person who is not able to answer one single question. If I ever had any kind of respect for him as a person (certainly not as a politician since I disagree completely with his policies) it has vanished now. Scumbag!

He 'didn't have any inappropriate conversations.' He didn't say what kind of 'appropriate,' conversations he may have had on the subject or why he might have thought them to be appropriate, but he can still say he didn't lie if there is evidence of conversations having taken place.
Re: Is this Armageddon for Murdoch and NewsCorp?
I think David Cameron was livid over the remark Murdoch made about asking him to use the back entrance. He will never make a good Prime Minister
because he is completely devoid of ideas or empathy with the Public.

Hacking case linked to News Corp US arm referred to FBI
By Alan Rappeport
A legal battle that alleged computer hacking of a US marketing company by a News Corp subsidiary has been referred to US authorities by a senior lawmaker, exposing the company at the centre of the UK phone-hacking scandal to further questions about how it operated in the US.
Frank Lautenberg, a Democratic senator, asked the Justice Department and Federal Bureau of Investigations to examine the details of a case settled between News America Marketing and Floorgraphics Inc, an in-store marketing company. Floorgraphics alleged that its rival hacked its computer system as many as 11 times in 2003 and 2004 to gain business.

Carmen. this is the latest and it appears Jeremy Hunt says DC DID have discussions with RM on the bskyb bid.
PM Under Pressure Over BSkyB Discussions
7:48am UK, Thursday July 21, 2011
The Prime Minister is facing fresh pressure over claims about his dealings
with Rupert Murdoch's empire during the media mogul's bid to take full control
of BSkyB.
David Cameron sidestepped repeated questions in the Commons over whether the
planned takeover was mentioned in private discussions with News International
executives.
In a gruelling session Mr Cameron was also forced to admit that "with
hindsight" he would never have recruited Andy Coulson – former editor of the
News Of The World (NOTW) – as No 10 communications chief.
He told MPs he was "extremely sorry" for the furore surrounding Mr Coulson,
who he said should face "severe" criminal charges if it turned out he lied about
what he knew about phone-hacking activities at the newspaper.
As Rupert Murdoch returns to the US, David Cameron is
facing renewed pressure
The PM said: "Of course I regret and I am extremely
sorry about the furore it has caused.
"With 20:20 hindsight - and all that has followed - I would not have offered
him the job and I expect that he wouldn't have taken it.
"But you don't make decisions in hindsight, you make them in the present.
"You live and you learn - and believe you me, I have learnt."
Mr Cameron came under attack from Labour leader Ed Miliband who said his words on Mr
Coulson were "not enough".
david cameron full commons statement on hacking
Later, Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt appeared to confirm some conversations
had been held about the bid for BSkyB, owner of Sky News.
But aides pointed out he had "not referenced anyone in particular" those
discussion may have been with.
Mr Hunt told MPs: "The discussions the Prime Minister had on the BSkyB deal
were irrelevant.
"They were irrelevant because the person who had the responsibility... the
person who was making this decision was myself."

Re: Is this Armageddon for Murdoch and NewsCorp?
Apparently Shareholders in Newscorp are questioning the legality of the the way Newscorp is run. It is not on the one share one vote principle but even
though the Murdoch Family own only 13% of the shares, they have 70% of the Vote.
Not all their acquisitions have been profitable, they paid $568 million for MySpace and sold it for $30 million, paid $614 million for SHINE, I think a
Dance School for one of the Murdoch Daughters, Bank of America has taken out a Class Action Suit against NewsCorp didn"t hear what for, the general
concensus is that Rupert Murdoch should stand down.

Re: Is this Armageddon for Murdoch and NewsCorp?
Just announced , the Justice Dept in the U.S.A. is in the process of issuing a subpoena to NewsCorp regarding the report of the 9/11 hackings. The shares in NewsCorp have been discounted by 20%. at the moment they are valued at $69.8 billion, but next years will be worth $54 billion.
There are also reporting that in light of the accusations by the departing Head of News Intl. the CSC might call another meeting to ask James Murdoch
to explain.

Re: Is this Armageddon for Murdoch and NewsCorp?
Latest News, James Murdoch may have to face another meeting. In the meantime bskyb results are due next week and analysts confirm it is James
as Chairman who has been responsible for the success of bskyb. Much depends on the 2 ex-employees being able to prove their claim that James
knew what was going on. A couple of analysts are saying, he was too keen to interrupt the questioning by answering questions aimed at Rupert.

Apparently the Directors of bskyb are considering whether James Murdoch shoild remain as Chairman, but since the Murdoch Family have 70% of the
voting shares this could be a problem.
Ofcom are looking at Newscorp owning 61% of bskyb shares.

RUPERT MURDOCH WAS EFFECTUALLY MINISTER WITHOUT PORTFOLIO.
HE INFLUENCED TONY BLAIR TO HAVE A REFERENDUM ON NEW EU CONSTITUTION.
HE VISITED CHEQUERS.
HE INFLUENCED GORDON BROWN DECISION NOT TO HAVE A 2007 ELECTION.
SUPPORTS RIGHT WING CAUSES.
TONY BLAIR WENT TO VISIT MURDOCH IN AUSTRALIA.
IN 2003/2002,PARLIAMENT PASSED A LAW PERMITTING NON-EU CITIZENS TO OWN LOTS OF BRITISH MEDIA.
often when you called the police to a crime scene, the tabloids would be tipoffedd and get there before the police.
murdoch didn't care about how stories were obtained, calling someone who questioned these methods a w*****
