Peacocks where I live have shed 249 jobs , skeleton staff are being kept on to keep the shops open and Peacocks are still hoping for a Buyer.

AT BONMARCHE,1,400 LOST
IN CONTRAST,5,000 JOBS ARE TO BE CREATED AT ASDA.
TODAY I WENT TO ARGOS TO BUY A NEW VACUUM CLEANER AS MY CARER SAID TO BUY A NEW ONE BECAUSE THE OLD ONE WAS MAKING A BURNING SMELL.(SPENT ALMOST £91)
I NOTICE THEY HAD LA SENZA GIFT CARDS,EVEN THOUGH THEY CAN NO ONLY BE USED.
ONE OF THE STAFF GENERIOUSLY CARRIED MY PURCHASE TO THE TAXI RANK AND WE TALKED ABOUT ARGOS'S PROFITS(DOWN FROM £54MILLION TO £3MILLION),SAID TRADE DROPS OFF AFTER CHRISTMAS AND THEY AT THE SHOP WERE MAKING SOME PROFITS.
HOW LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE SHOPPING ONLINE,SO DON'T GO INTO SHOPS SO MUCH.
SAID HOW SHOPS WERE CLOSING BECAUSE OF LESS PEOPLE SPENDING BECAUSE OF THE SITUATION.
(I SAID I WAS EXEMPT BECAUSE I AM ON BENEFITS,NO MORTGAGE,DEBTS ETC)

Suits me if they get a ten or even twenty point deduction as they have already been in administration within the last year.
1.7 mill and it was Harry Redknap who helped get them in the shit as well.

Good News.....It looks as though Peacocks will be saved. With a debt of £784 million the Administrators have had 100 enquiries and apart from the 500 Head Office jobs , all the other jobs will be saved . Peacocks is well known for value and has branches in every Main street in Wales and the U.K.Offers
close on Monday.

I dont like subway, imo there sandwiches are supposedly healthy when infact they are not, I saw a programe once and they compared the subway meatball mariniare sandwich in fat and calories to the same as eating 4 Macburger or 16 bag of crisps
When you look at what they sell, they have the small salad bar, but look at those sauces, processed meat, full fat cheese slices, then topped with full fat Mayo......

Hi Badboy, there are several Buses from where I live going into Town and beyond so havn"t noticed that yet. Anyway, There are ample shops where I
live, even a Peacocks, so I seldom go into town.

It's not just that, the internet and now kindle books have been responsible mostly, same as the Internet responsible for the decline in Newspaper sales.
One good thing, we won't need to chop down so many Trees.

My son said he did the ultimate in cheek just before Christmas. He went into Waterstone's to have a look at a book he was interested in, liked it, and then used his phone, while in the shop, to check the Amazon price and ordered it from Amazon while he was there!
