Re: more store closures and job cuts ahead in uk?
The group recently struck a deal with the low-cost carrier, easyJet, to block-book tens of thousands of seats on its aircraft – a move analysts believe signals a greater reliance on third-party carriers in future.
Unquote.
Well, that rules me out of ever using Thomas Cook again.....

Malena, the standard of Airline travel today is getting much worse, Carriers delaying flights without a valid reason . Flybe is the worst , the last two flights of 55 minutes I was on have had to land in Exeter for over 3 hours due to problem in the aircraft and weather conditions.

HMV facing Closure
HMV faces 'probable' banking agreement breach
Troubled entertainment retailer HMV has warned it could breach its banking agreements in January as sales took a tumble in a weak market.

HMV, which sells music, DVDs and devices such as headphones, said that current trading conditions meant the business was facing "material uncertainties" and warned of a "probable covenant breach at the end of January 2013".
But, the chain added that it was in "constructive discussions" with its banks and was keeping them fully informed on current trading.
First-half sales at HMV slipped 13.5pc to £288.6m, while like-for-like sales fell 10.2pc, with the chain saying it had been affected by a "poor release schedule" across the summer months as suppliers avoided events such as the Diamond Jubilee.
With games, music and films on the wane, HMV said that other products, including technology, now make up 17pc of its product mix. Like-for-like sales of games and technology products increased by 6pc.

Trevor Moore, who joined HMV as chief executive in September, said it had been a "difficult first half" for the retailer. But he added: "The business has started to deliver a number of new initiatives which will help to maximise the seasonal sales opportunity and provide a platform for growth in 2013.
"Additionally, as we trade through this period we will continue to develop further initiatives with our suppliers and I will provide updates at the appropriate time."
HMV is being supported over the vital Christmas trading period with funding of around £40m from its suppliers, the Telegraph reported on Wednesday.
Music publishers and film studios are desperate to see the beleaguered high street chain prosper as internet retailers erode their margins and online piracy damages sales.
It is understood that HMV has secured greater access to music and film suppliers’ back catalogues and is buying stock on consignment, meaning the retailer pays only for products if it sells them.
Shares in HMV sank almost 40pc in early trading to 2.6p.

Not suprised to hear more retail is in trouble. My nearby town is filled on a Friday (market day) with people not buying in the shops or market... but you try to get a seat in the many cafes and its nearly impossible.

Think clothes shops and jewelers will probably keep going as most of us still like to try stuff on and see what we're getting.
Record shops/dvd's are finished except you may find the odd specialist somewhere.
Wouldn't surprise me if another 'Big' retailer goes at some point, maybe W.H.Smiths as what they sell is cheaper on the net.Boots will probably continue to specialise and down size.
We now have four Indian restuarants, two Chinease,a Costa Coffee, three cafes, two chip shops and a Kebab shop all within 100 yards.
They all manage to survive, despite some nights having next to no customers, because they are mostly run by Asian families who all live in small flats above the shops.

Kitti. If your machine is less than a year old try the manufacturer as its got to be guaranteed for a year and i would still try the manufacturer if its a bit older as some will do 'ex gratia' repairs if its a little bit out of warranty.
Also if your insurance was with Comet (extended warranty) it may still be covered.
