Amber Alert Canceled, Sandoval Children Found Safe in Shasta County

An Amber alert issued Monday for a boy and girl taken by a neighbor was canceled late Monday night after the children were found safe in North Redding, Shasta County Sheriff’s Department said, according to Bay City News Service.

According to Bay City News Service, emergency officials said that Michael, 7, and Mya Sandoval, 5, had not been home since around 6 p.m. Sunday after a fishing trip in the Redding area. They were found in North Redding sometime before 11 p.m. Monday night.

April Swartz, 31, the suspect in the kidnapping, is the children's neighbor at the Balls Ferry Fishing Resort in Anderson. According to Bay City News Service, authorities believed Swartz may have been under the influence of controlled substances.

Swartz is described as a white woman with blonde hair and hazel eyes. She is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds.

Swartz and the children were traveling in a white 1997 GMC Yukon with an Oklahoma license plate No. 118BZR.
