Noisy shutters
The shutters are very loud and the noise would 'carry' more in the evening air. Also they get dirty very quickly, finger prints or not ?

As they were dining so close by and it was out of season, the noise would have surely reached the diners, if we're going with the abduction theory and ignoring the dogs' indications. Leaving so many small children alone, they would have been on the alert for any tiny sign that they might be needed back at their apartments.
The shutters were THAT loud that you could hear them at the Tapas bar?
It was only like dining in the garden, so yes, I would expect to be able to hear them from the Tapas Bar, especially when the parents were listening for any little abnormality to put them on alert when they'd left their children alone..

They would have to be exceptionally loud I would think! Would there be finger prints if you opened them? If that's the case is there fingerprints on them from any of the Mccanns? Surely there should be if that's the case.

Re: Pat Brown
Bearing in mind Mrs Fenn was above & Jez Wilkins & many of the tapasniks were wandering backwards & forwards it is surprising NO one heard them screech open. Interesting that PJ asked LP to question Jez about whether he heard a noise like shutters being opened but either that question wasn't asked or was removed from the files.
Requested question " Did you hear any sound that resembled a shutter opening or the slam of a car or a house door ?"

I fell off a chair in a pub once And broke the leg (chair leg, not mine)and all I could see was my friends underwear....no patio doors though I'm afraid.....i was two sheets to the wind and it took 3 people to carry me out (one each leg and the doorman had had the rest off me).... and put me in a cab.

I do not believe she is alive, like yourself I would love to be proven wrong but statistically she died pretty much within the first few hours IF there was an abduction.( If my memory serves me right on children abductions.) I'm not certain she was abducted, like you said the dogs findings only really point to Madeleine. However there is the possibility that someone did walk in and take her, so I won't rule it out.
Lots of things can't be ruled out. I haven't ruled out alien abduction either.
So the abduction theory can't be ruled out?
Nope. Not 100%. Nor alien abduction. Nor spontaneous human combustion. And I still think my last two options are as likely as the one you mention in your question. Elvis can still be alive too.
Didn't one of the "most wanted" pics that were released by the McCann team look a little like Elvis - and another like George Harrison and yet another was a Victoria Beckham lookalike? PdL must be overrun with celebrity lookalikes.
That's PdL. It attracts celebrities and abductors.

Those things are carpy. They're terribly noisy, they break easily after a couple of years exposed to the elements and they're horrible to clean. I changed all of mine and convinced my neighbour to do the same because the noise coming from hers was making me nuts. Mine were quite noisy and they weren't even the apartment 5A type anymore. They had no rope.
Re: Pat Brown
They often stick and jam and the mechanism never lasts long and as you say their so hard to clean properly.
I guess this is the finger print lady ?
