Obama's appeal for a vote based on racism?

Obama has launched "African-Americans for Obama," campaign, which I think is offensive in many ways.

What if there were a "Whites for Romney," campaign?

I think this is offensive to African-Americans. Obama is asking them to vote for him simply because of the colour of his skin: nothing to do with his politics - vote for him because he's black. He underestimates those people who fought for the freedom to vote. Perhaps they also want to be considered as intelligent people who can consider a candidate's merits based on what he says and does, rather than what he looks like.

Obama has consistently played the race card. Criticism of him and his policies has been branded racist so much of the time. He's playing the race card again here and I think it's thoroughly reprehensible.

The colour of his skin was probably the reason why he got all those votes in the first place. Can't see why it would be any different second time around.

I agree Angelina, he is the first Black President in American History and until John Kennedy stopped apartheid in the 60's Black people couldn't ride on
buses with whites , were segregated in schools and even now . few are treated as equals . American History, like Britain, Spain and Portugese history
is based on invasion of other Countries and slave Labour.

I am old enough to remember when segregation still existed in America and also how in the U K it was legal to advertise job vacancies and properties to let with the proviso "no blacks or coloureds". While nobody other than hate-filled extremists would want to return to that sorry state of affairs, I do sometimes feel that things have gone too far in the opposite direction. I certainly agree with AnnaEsse that President Obama should not ask people to vote for him solely because of the colour of his skin.

I cringe when I hear of organisations like the National Black Police Association - http://www.nbpa.co.uk/ - can you imagine the furore there would be about a White Police Association?

Afternoon NBY , notice how they are "Blacks" now, not "Coloureds", admittedly attitudes have changed a lot and many Blacks are professional people,
inter-marriage has also changed opinions.....in fact, it's the Asians and Middle East population we should be more worried about now, they are far more dangerous than Blacks ever were, the militants I mean. Twice in the last Year where I live Police raided houses after being advised, and found Pakistanis
with bomb making facilities.
