Re: Sky news
This is exactly what the McCanns want imo. Portugal will not reopen the case because there is no credible new evidence. Why should they ? The McCanns will now claim that they wanted the case reopening and blame Portugal for not doing so. I still believe that the PJ's original findings stand and the case against the McCanns is strong but, sadly, unprovable..

Re: Sky news
So this is why the McCanns said they wanted the case re-opened. They must have heard that Portugal wouldn't do it right now.

Re: Sky news
doesn't sound good does it? Portugal obviously have some doubts, if the 195 leads SY have sent over are potential sightings they must be ruled out, otherwise they can expect more bashing.
Or do Portugal know SY are so against blaming the Mcs they absolutely refuse to play ball?

No Reason to Reopen McCann Case: Portugal
LISBON
Portuguese authorities have no new evidence that would give them cause to reopen an inquiry into the disappearance in 2007 of the British youngster Madeleine McCann, police said Thursday.
“There are no new elements at the moment that would allow for the reopening of the inquiry,” Pedro do Carmo, the deputy head of the criminal police department, said.

Re: Sky news
i believe in karma, justice, something coming from left field, did anyone think a paper review would get the Portuguese to move on it. It seems call me DI andy redwood has already exonnerated the McCs and told the world so. so it this what it was all about. the pm pushing under the massive pressure of News International and robert murdoch interest whatever that is, taking £2m of taxpayers money to announce to the world Madeliene is either dead or alive, exonnerate the McCs publicly, ask the PJ publicly for a reopening so more PJ bashing could take place when denied, and the McCs looking as victims. The white wash wont wash with many. I dont know the extent of the McCs involvement, if any, in the disappearance of Madeleine, but by allowing the opportunity by their absence they are responsible, imo, and the dogs dont lie.

to be honest im having some trouble understand this so all this mean is right that the pj dont watnt too reopen the case because they sitll believe the mcanns may have had something to do with whatever did happen to maddie OR theres no evidence either way

Re: Sky news
I'm quite annoyed by the limp-wristedness: Why don't the PJ issue a strong statement saying that they will reopen the case if McCanns and friends come over for a little reconstruction? Simple.

Let's face it, the Portuguese have a huge financial crisis to deal with and are in no position to spend more on an investigation which they probably feel they've solved..

Quite. I can't think what else people would expect them to say at this juncture.
They most certainly aren't going to be influenced by renewed public interest engendered by a rather weak BBC Documentary.
