The Sunday Express leads with news. That news is surmised in a front-page headline:

YARD: WE CAN SOLVE MADDIE MYSTERY

Can. Not will?

SCOTLAND Yard detectives are confident they can solve the mystery of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.

But not that confident. Can. Not WILL.

They are approaching the huge task of reviewing all known evidence with renewed vigour as the fifth anniversary of the three year old going missing approaches.

How is this news? It’s not. It’s PR, remind Express readers that the paper’s emergency news story remains a mystery. To give the non-story legs the paper hears from a “source close to the investigation”.

Why not name this source?

“They are working extremely hard to solve the case in the sense that they want to be able to say what they believe has happened to the child. Their attitude is that it is solvable and they are working to that end.”

The “they” suggests our man / woman in the know is not a serving officer, which may explain why the story is high on profile but low on detail.

“The approach is very professional and all officers are committed to doing their very best to understand existing evidence while looking for new evidence. They want definitive answers and are working extremely hard to get to the truth. The investigation is gathering momentum.”

Well, quite. Lee Rainbow and the Met are on the case. http://www.anorak.co.uk/280925/madeleine-mccann/madeleine-mccann-facing-facts-with-lee-rainbow.html/

But why is this news? Well…

While the review gathers pace, Kate McCann has been busying herself by writing a short epilogue to a paperback version of her hardback book, Madeleine, which has sold 350,000 copies in the UK alone since its launch last year.

Yep, the front-page news is rooted in PR.

The paperback version will be released on May 10, seven days after the anniversary of her daughter’s disappearance in 2007 from a holiday apartment in the Algarve resort of Praia da Luz. Kate will refer to the Scotland Yard probe in the new chapter but will not disclose any details of the investigation.

With bonus material! More hurt! More tears!! More mystery!!!

Daily Mirror: “Madeleine McCann case on verge of being formally reopened, mum Kate believes”

Kate McCann has told of her renewed hopes of finding Madeleine in a new version of her book for the fifth anniversary of her daughter’s disappearance…

Kate’s new paperback version of the book, simply titled Madeleine, will be released on May 10, seven days after the fifth anniversary of her daughter’s disappearance.

A “source” is on hand to say:

“Kate has spent several months writing the epilogue and it will bring the tragic story up to date with the police review which Scotland Yard has been carrying out since the fourth anniversary. In the epilogue Kate talks about her gratitude towards the Met because she realises the significance of the review in moving forward towards the case being reopened. She thanks the police and talks about her hope for the future.”

The Mirror adds that should the Met fail, then the private detectives and McCanns’ PRs will remain at the forefront of the search for Maddie:

The book sold more than 280,000 copies in Britain with thousands more bought around the world and it is hoped the new updated version with Kate’s epilogue will boost sales further to raise money for the appeal to find the youngster.

Belfast Telegraph: ”Assange likens coverage to McCanns”

Have Julian Assange and his Wikileaks any news? Do they have secret leaked documents created at the Madeleine McCanns went missing we can see? No.

Julian Assange claimed he has suffered from inaccurate and negative media coverage “possibly on a scale not seen since the abuse of the McCanns”.

Assange is wanted for police interview in connection with an alleged rape in Sweden.

Assange wrote to the Leveson Inquiry:

“Those who have been the subject of ongoing, widespread inaccurate and negative media coverage – as I have, possibly on a scale not seen since the abuse of the McCanns – know that the harms created for individuals and small organisations or groups by a failure to maintain high ethical journalistic standards can be severe, consequential and almost insurmountable.”

You may recall that Julian Assange told us that as a “result of our leak” in Kenya “1,300 people were eventually killed, and 350,000 were displaced.” He later told us:

WikiLeaks has a four-year publishing history. During that time we have changed whole governments, but not a single person, as far as anyone is aware, has been harmed.

The McCanns’ daughter went missing. They were the subject of voracious media feeding frenzy. Julian Assange and his Wikileaks stand accused of endangering lives and placed the US in the dock over thousands of deaths. He and the McCanns know the power of big media and seek to harness it to help their causes.

All the media need do is stick to the facts, of which there are just two: Fact 1: Madeleine McCann went missing. Fact 2. Julian Assange has been accused of rape.

Assange said the PCC ruled it was “perfectly acceptable” to say he had been charged with rape when in fact he has only been accused of the offence.

Thank you Annabel xx

It's quite obvious that the media don't give a stuff about facts, which is precisely how Clarence Mitchell has the ability to weave his web of deception and lies on behalf of his clients.
