This fact really should be in the public domain, especially after the crap we've had to endure this last few days.
More to the point, why did the McCanns ask for the case to be closed?
If I remember, clarence Mitchell said in a statement that the Mccanns want the case closed so they could employ there own private detectives to look for madeleine.

And they had the fund for when the official search ended!

That is what they have supposedly been doing from Day 1....employing their own Detectives.
The reason they want the case closed is because they have recently altered the Company Mem and Arts to create an educational video for sale to
show Parents of a missing child how to search , something else as well but I can't remember. If the case is closed they can abandon any search for
Madeleine but keep the Company to trade in whatever they want.
If somone can dig out a copy of the amended M & A it would be interesting to find out exactly what they intend to do.

Yeah, I've tried to stay away from posting, it's a bit like scratching itchy skin, or eating Pringles - once you start doing it, you can't stop
But, like I said, I have been galvanised into action again by all this week's taradiddle. So there goes my calm, relaxed state of mind for a burton. Still, it cheered me up no end seeing Clarence's new Justin Bieber hairstyle the other morning - nearly coked on my toast.
But seriously, Cameron was apparently pressurised by News International to give the review the green light. Now when Murdoch is called to give evidence to Leveson, he mentions that, that he and Cameron had meetings at which BskyB bid was mentioned. And that they pressurised Cameron to support the review. It might just be that Cameron thought that spending £3 million of other people's money was a bargain in exchange for favourable press from NI. But the fact that a media group is telling a Prime Minister to do such things (for whatever reason) is rather alarming.
However, by bringing forward Panorama (I'd have thought it would have made more sense to show it in its original planned slot, just days prior to the anniversary) and getting Redwood to sing from the approved songsheet, attention is diverted from this and people can be worked into a righteous frenzy about the perceived lack of Portuguese police effectiveness and co operation. Thereby benefiting NI, the Met, Cameron and last, but assuredly not least, the McCanns.
It's basically the same principle as someone stamping on your foot to distract you, so their accomplice can nick your wallet. And blame it on a man on the other side of the road.
Sorry for the long post, I'm venting months worth of frustration
I'm right with you there!
Burying bad news is essential. Politics are pants. In Great Britain you've now got a choice of Cameron, Clegg and Milliepedes. Basically middle management.
Politicians earn peanuts, need to use all their time to make connections and secure future lucrative appointments, getting re-elected is a mine field.
The US Marines in the form of the ever-ready McCanns are a godsend.
Politics would be much better served by the reasons why it evolved. People who actually represented their constituency because they had either property or economical interests there. OK, there were a fair few squires and such. Not a lot of Lords or whatever, but the point is that these MPs actually came from the area, knew the people and it was in their own interest to do as well as they could for their area. Gone off topic here. Sorry.
But the timing of the 30th was even better for TM. Like a free advertising promotion to sell the epilogue (hope she knows what that means - her knowledge of English is shaky) and anything else lying around at H.Q. McCann. The timing tells all imo.
IMO AR was told exactly what to say and he looked like a stuffed frog saying it. She could be alive and she could be dead.
The photograph was a collaboration with the McCanns! As they seem to be unsure of what she looked like when alive five years ago, (coloboma, fleck, brown hair, blond hair, 90 cm tall 114 tall, talkative, shy) it's not surprising that all age progressed photos have looked like wildly different children, but curiously - most of them looking older than the projected age. They seem to have had no more than a passing acquaintance with their daughter.

Re: Mirror online ....McCanns will speak publicly next week.
What's the betting that the research of this case by SY will provide NADA, NOTHING to differ from the PJ Final Report. Will The Sun serialise part of
Kate's new Book which explains their obnoxious article.????
Britain and Portugal will probably sever their ties over this and Cameron has to live with his decision to authorise this Review, Murdoch doesn't give a s*** what The Sun says and , as usual the Press has the Herd instinct . Why does'nt Cameron put a D Notice on this case to stop all this Press
nonsense, Tony Blair did . Redwood should be forbidden from either giving a Press interview, or T.V. Interview until he is ready to announce details of
his findings....are we going to be bombarded for the next few months until the 13th September with more possible leads to be investigated.

I don't know if they have made a video but there was no change in the M&A to allow them to do so. The clause was in the original M&A. The only change in the revised M&A (apart from reordering and numbering) was to remove the family support clause.
I seem to recall that the original statements regarding the fund stated that any monies remaining after MM was found would be donated to a proper charity for missing children or similar. Of course they could renege on that undertaking (or give it to PACT and become trustees!) but it wouldn't look good.

Re: Mirror online ....McCanns will speak publicly next week.
This review will end up being a total waste of 2 m plus pounds of taxpayers' money. The only credible evidence points to Maddie's death in flat 5 A. As for the updated photo of what Maddie might look like today, it's a cruel farce which will only generate more false sightings which SY will then want followed up at the expense of either the British or Portuguese tax payer.

Good grief, you can see it in his eyes... he's got that same blank, lack of integrity expression as Clarence Mitchell, Dave Edgar, Arthur Cowley and Jim Gamble.
I didn't share the optimism that many expressed here when it was announced that SY would be doing a review. Watching Redwood on Panorama I completely agree with you pennylane. This is just the beginning of a complete and utter whitewash. How many more times do we need to hear the word "abductor" before we're all completely brainwashed?

I don't agree with some of the comments, why would Cameron agree to a Review costing so much money, to the annoyance of some in his Party
if it was to be a cover up????? Surely now, there are enough sceptics in Parliament who doubt the McCanns story and would accuse Cameron of wasting
Taxpayers money. He is not exactly flavour of the Month , Murdoch has dumped him, he has many MP's in his own Party who would never forgive him if £3.5 million has been spent at a time when the Country is destitute and there is nothing to show for it.
Which is exactly why Redwood is desperately trying to tell us they have fresh evidence. So Cameron can claim it wasn't a waste of money, but that the Portuguese don't want to reopen the case. Politicians..what a self-serving, dishonest bunch...

Re: Mirror online ....McCanns will speak publicly next week.
Having just watched the Daybreak interview with Andy Redwood (I want to call him 'Dandy' for some reason) he refers to the 195 'investigative opportunities' not leads which, as he points out, because of the "significant differences in our legal systems", the law in Portugal "does not allow them to investigate as the case is currently closed". He's quoted in the Mirror as saying “We do still believe, however, that there are matters which need to be considered, and therefore we are currently seeking a more formal way of addressing this.”[/i]
As the law in Portugal doesn't permit an investigation unless a case is open, and once a case is shelved/closed, it requires new credible info from a reliable source, etc, for the case to be re-opened it seems that Redwood is saying that the 'investigative opportunities' found thus far (which he said on the Daybreak interview the SY team can't 'develop' without Portuguese collaboration) could result in 'new' information, which could then be used to re-open the investigation.
Redwood stated (in the Daybreak interview) that the Portuguese police 'do want to re-open [the case] in due course'.
I can imagine there are 195 investigative opportunities in the rogatory interviews alone.

Same in today's Telegraph's TV thingy for next week.
It's just early-to-bed Print deadlines that don't reflect late changes.
Check your 7 day TV EPG, if you have one - that should be up to date by now.

There is nothing in my T.V. Weekly guide but the BBC altered the Panorama Programme last week after the T.V. Programmes. I think you will find there is only one Panorama programme on the 3rd and it will be a repeat of the one we saw on Wednesday. You can confirm it on the BBC Panorame website

Theres actually no evidence of this! Redwood has said nothing significant. SY has stayed schtoom.

Actually, I think Redwood has been very verbose , appearing on two T.V. Channels and divulging information which he shouldn't. Also suggesting
Madeleine could be alive. Not very diplomatic when he is relying on co-operation from the Portugese Police.
