omg i just read on fb Lorraine Kelly will be campaigning for Kate McCann to be made OBE.

i dont know whata OBE is but it sounds high up this is a joke right???

It had better be a joke because its the Order of the British Empire, a very high order which, if its in the two higher degrees could entitle her to be a Dame (but that`s unlikely).

It really cannot be true or we are definitely living in some horrific parallel universe.

It is my belief that the OBE is awarded for service to the community. Sandra Brown, a Scottish woman, was awarded the OBE for setting up The Moira Anderson Foundation for victims of childhood sexual abuse and has done brilliant work for the community.

In contrast, the fund that Kate and Gerry set up was not intended to benefit the community and thus could not be a charity. Their fund has benefited themselves, imo. Kate McCann's efforts have spawned a rash of faked abductions, cost the police in two countries a great deal of time and money and kept her and her husband out of prison. She has done nothing for the wider community.

Agree 100% but unfortunately that is not how the other 'community' will see it, you know - the community which has fun playing goodies with the donations of other people's hard-earned cash. She's already on the charity-go-round - only a short step to joining Lady Meyer and becoming Lady Muck. Don't forget Charlie and the Rotweiler's support - I'm sure it's still there. Talking of Charlie - there was a report on German TV the other night about how his support for the Rausing woman probably kept her out of jail when she was caught in a drugs bust with so much stuff on her that had it been anyone else, they would have got at least 10 years as a dealer. According to the report, she and her husband got off with a warning. Familiar territory sadly.

I would say Kate Mccann has contributed very well according to at least these two items on the list:

made a difference to their community or field of work?
• brought distinction to British life and enhanced its reputation?

For certain she has made a difference..........proving that child neglect really does pay well

and

has helped immensely in proving how corrupt the UK is.


I don't see why anyone is surprised at Kate Mccann getting an OBE, in my opinion it has always been on the cards. I'm just surprised it's taken this long.

What is this world coming to all these sleazy people filling their own pockets out of the needy....does nobody look into these so called charities ?

With all the outcry about her being made the Ambassador for Missing People, this cannot happen or is this another kick in the teeth for all of us trying to find out the truth in this never ending story ?

I shouldn't worry. If it ever happens and they have played a part in a cover up of Maddies death then eventually the truth will out and that OBE will have to be handed back just like Lester Piggot discovered when he went to jail.

Look at last weeks outcry, it will only get worse if there is an official award.

Kelly can nominate her all she wishes, the won't be any reward while the SY review goes on, nor if Portugal ever reopen the case which Kate now wants to happen.

Nothing would surprise me. I didn't choke over my cornflakes at the news of the charity appointment either as I was expecting something like that to happen.

Well it has been joked about on this forum often enough. Maybe we are actually making these things happen, by thinking and articulating them all the time

Lorraine Kelly also lived in Dundee and I believe went through infertility treatment at the same time that Kate was a doctor at Ninewells.

Getting an honour can take up to about 18 months, its not normally a quick process.
I really cant see how in all seriousness Kate could possibly be considered and it would make
a complete mockery of the award system. It doesnt surprise me though because of the
corrupt system that we live under and giving Kate an honour is to my mind all part of the
protection of the Mccanns.

What will be next Richard Branson nominating Gerry for an honour?
