Re: "Maddie McCann parents' 1 Million Pound bid over 'lies'"
Quote from Fern - "In my opinion, the McCanns are suggesting that because of GAs opinion ie that Madeleine is dead, people won't bother looking out for Madeleine rather than people not bother to acutally search for her."
Even if it was what they`re suggesting, one has to weigh up the odds for the good of the greater whole and in this case, we have the risk of returning to censorship against the risk that people won`t bother to look out for Maddie. So do we put a whole country`s newly gained freedom from censorship at risk just in case people won`t bother to look for Maddie?

Sheer speculation on their part, unless of course they can provide a good number of witnesses to prove that GA's book has in fact stopped anyone looking.

We only have to check the number of "sightings", even as recent as a couple of days ago to realise the McCanns claim is nonsense.!!! Besides, Amaral's book is published in Portugese , not English , so affecting the search would be minimal.

By not cooperating with the PJ, and endlessly altering their version of events, it is the infamous Kate and Gerry McCann that have negatively impacted the search for Madeleine.

Exactly, from day one. And they have they effrontery to blame others. I hope Goncalo or his lawyer have this reminder at the ready.

When the "book ban" was overturned, the Court ruling was that Mr. Amaral's book was an accurate report of the investigation into Madeleine's "disappearance". How can another Court rule that the same book represents libel?

Well said Interested. If there was anything in the book that was libelous, the book would have remained banned.

Healy & McCann's arrogance will be their downfall - starting 13 Sep 12 (or such other date as the Libel Case may be further postponed to).

kathybelle - That's what I can't get my head around. Let's hope the Court in its wisdom awards considerable damages to Mr. Amaral for this frivolous attempt to destroy his reputation.

Re: "Maddie McCann parents' 1 Million Pound bid over 'lies'"
I suspected the McCanns on the 4th May 2007 as Gerry read out his speech and as the lies came out, more evidence and then the dogs, it was clear that searching was going to be fruitless.
As the McCanns have done no searching , why should anyone else?? They are so brazen that they don't bother to search and not be interested in sightings as they know full well what happened to Madeleine.
The couple get help from their "friends" and don't mind if they have to also tell lies to cover up what really happened. The corruption has spread but the McCanns don't care.
The damage to Dr. Amaral and his family has been horrendous and I sincerely hope that he wins his libel cases with all the people and newspapers who have caused him so much grief.

Re: "Maddie McCann parents' 1 Million Pound bid over 'lies'"
Anyone can see that this is a personal vendetta by the Mccanns against Amaral, just like their personal vendetta against Tony Bennett.
How come they dont sue Redwood for saying there is a possibility that Madeleine is dead, how come they dont think that will stop people looking out for her.
They let down Madeleine and by this behaviour they continue to let down Madeleine, money money money, they need to devote their time and energy into start telling the truth, the book, the interviews and statements do not add up, they do not tally, there have been so many versions of their "story", but there is only ONE version of the TRUTH!

most people would die for their kids kate mcann couldnt even bring herself to answer any questions when interviewed -- why because she was shit scared that her story wouldnt add up to what the tapas said -- so she took the easy way out and said nothing of much information to help her daughter -- those bad portugal police wanted to frame me kind of thoughts -- well id let them do what they had to if innocent and appeal against it --- id be prepared to be locked away if it ment that ther was a shread of hope id get my daughter back --- once again kate mcann blames everyone

Does anyone know if GA has got his books back yet, the ones the court ordered to be returned? If not why not? They would be ignoring a court order. If anyone has mentioned this already in the thread I am sorry.

And not a "disgraced" or "Keystone" cop in sight. It's actually quite subdued for the Daily Star.AnnaEsse wrote:Annabel wrote:http://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/view/270014/Maddie-parents-libel-bid/MADDIE PARENTS’ LIBEL BID
If they win the case every penny they receive in damages will go into the Madeleine Fund
Spokesman Clarence Mitchell
1st September 2012
By Jerry Lawton
MADELEINE McCann’s parents hope to win a £1million libel payout this month from the ex-police chief who claimed they lied about their daughter’s disappearance.
Any damages awarded to Kate and Gerry McCann will be spent on the global search for the youngster.
A court hearing is due to start on September 13 in Lisbon. The McCanns’ are still considering whether to appear to face
Goncalo Amaral, 55, who wrote in his book The Truth Of The Lie that Madeleine was dead.
The McCanns’ lawyer Isabel Duarte said Kate and Gerry, both 44, of Rothley, Leics, were confident of victory.
And their spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “If they win the case every penny they receive in damages will go into the Madeleine Fund
The Daily Star has given the English title of Amaral's book, so perhaps a few readers will look for it.

How come they don't sue their own spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, for suggesting that "if she's dead, she's dead"?

Re: "Maddie McCann parents' 1 Million Pound bid over 'lies'"
Very good point Iris, more ammunition for Amaral, he can bring these points up in court,
not sued Mitchell, Redwood, Tavares de Almeida, PJ, so anyone can see it is a personal
vendetta the Mccanns have against him.
It could easily be argued when Mitchell said "if she's dead, she's dead" that could well have
stopped people looking for Madeleine if you go along with the Mccanns way of thinking.
