I wonder if it's also appeared in the Machynlleth local papers, it's being run in every conceivable local paper in Britain. If you google the headline you'll see what I mean, about two pages of Google all the same except for the name of the paper.

Re: Sad times for the Mccanns
Where is Gerry then Kate signed off without him unlike last years yuk message.....
It's Christmas - again. A time of mixed emotions for our family and many others in similar positions around the world. A time to hold together.
Thank you to all our supporters for your help throughout the year and for remaining united with us in our longing and determination to find Madeleine.
The year has ended on a positive note. Our search for Madeleine and the Metropolitan Police review of the case are progressing well. In addition, this December saw a landmark event for the protection of, and support for, missing children and their families left behind. The Government's Missing Children and Adults' Strategy aims to reduce the number of people who go missing; to protect the missing whilst they are away and to give families access to support, similar to victims of crime. The strategy follows 12 months of campaigning by individuals and organisations like the charity Missing People.
Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign and influenced this significant development.
This Christmas, please keep Madeleine and all missing loved ones and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you.
The support you give enables us to move into 2012 with renewed energy and continued hope.
Kate and Gerry
This years yuk message...
As we approach the end of another year, we’d like to thank everyone again for their amazing support. It is both heart-warming and reassuring to know that after all this time Madeleine still remains in so many people’s hearts and minds. This solidarity and commitment gives us great hope. Thank you.
The Metropolitan Police Review of all the material in the inquiry has been underway for over eighteen months. We have been really impressed and greatly encouraged by the work which has been done and its findings to date which are revealing there are definitely many stones yet to turn. We continue to wait and hope that the Portuguese authorities will agree to reopen the case so that the many lines of enquiry can be investigated. As Madeleine’s parents, we won’t be able to rest until we know that all that can be feasibly done to find her, and the person who took her, has been done.
In the meantime, we will continue to do all that we can to aid the search for our daughter and assist the Review process.
This year, Madeleine’s Fund has paid for:
1. A 24 hour, 7 day a week telephone line to receive and capture information from around the world which may assist the investigation
2. A small investigation team, including a Portuguese speaker to help with the above and with campaign activities.
Since March 2012 independent ‘physical’ investigation of lines of enquiry by our team has been put on hold whilst the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Review progresses. This has been to avoid duplication (and thereby unnecessary expenditure) and to prevent the risk of compromising any work, albeit unintentionally, carried out by the MPS. The private investigation team employed by the Fund continue to cooperate and work with the Metropolitan Police as and when necessary.
3. Part-time administrative support to aid the investigation and campaign to find Madeleine (campaign coordinator and media liaison)
4. The awareness-raising campaign to ensure that Madeleine is not forgotten and to encourage the general public to remain vigilant. This has included the running of the Find Madeleine website.
5. Assistance from a specialist Portuguese communications agency to ensure that our message is communicated as widely and accurately as possible in Portugal, where support and help to find Madeleine is especially needed.
We are very aware that without public help it will be virtually impossible to find Madeleine. It would have been incredibly difficult for us to have maintained a search for her this long without such support, including donations to the Fund. Due to the sales of my book, ‘Madeleine’, the financial position of the Fund has significantly improved from a year and a half ago so we would like to reiterate our gratitude to everybody who bought the book. This has helped the search in more ways than one. Whilst fund expenditure has decreased over the past six months (due to a reduction in investigation spending as outlined in point 2) the Directors feel it is important that the fund maintains reasonable reserves so that the search for Madeleine can be resumed quickly should the MPS review not lead to a reopening of the case in Portugal. We desperately hope of course that the official investigation to find Madeleine will be reopened – and soon – as we still believe this is probably our best chance of finding our little girl.
Despite becoming stronger in ourselves and being able to create as special a Christmas as possible for our children, this time of year will never be as it should without Madeleine. Whilst Gerry and I think it constantly, Sean and Amelie now vocalise it, especially when doing something really nice like putting up the decorations….”If only Madeleine was here too…”
If you know what has happened to Madeleine, or where she might be now, please, please do the right thing: Find the compassion and courage and let us know. Thank you.
This past weekend we sat and opened the many, many Christmas cards which have been sent to us, at what is now our sixth Christmas without Madeleine. The majority were from people we have never met. It was once again a very humbling yet totally uplifting experience. We are deeply touched by the thoughtfulness and compassion which we continue to experience and for the love and hope which shine through for Madeleine. Thank you so much. It means such a lot - and helps us immensely.
MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of our supporters. We wish you a festive period full of laughter,
warmth and friendship – and hope for a special 2013.

It's obvious the McCanns have lost the sympathy of the public. SY too must do the right thing since £3 million of taxpayers money has been spent. I would imagine the publishers of Kate's new book have put publication on hold. Maybe the tide is turning and at last justice for madeleine will be seen to be done. If the McCanns have split I'm surprised they are making it obvious while the review is ongoing.

This makes me so cross. Seriously, what is the reason for having this facility ? What a waste of money. Every police force in the world provides a 24 hour 7 day a week telephone line. Ring the police - that is what they are there for.
The same consistent message - contact us first. The continue to encourage people to avoid the police and use themselves as the first port of call. I would love to know exactly how many phone calls this line received in 2012 and what level of information was given.
Yet another paper exercise and waste of money.

"..receive and capture.."?? Does that mean someone is actually saving the information now? Do any of us "receive and capture," phone messages? I don't. I just write them down or remember them. My phone messages don't go flying off and need to be 'captured,' with a virtual butterfly net!
Re: Sad times for the Mccanns
Do we know if the phone line even exists?
It could just be another porky to give the impression that the McCanns are actually making an effort to find their daughter.
If they told me the time and the date, I'd need to get a second opinion!
For anyone who needs the right time, try this.

Re: Sad times for the Mccanns
Well now, in the rare event that someone might phone up the McHotline and intimate that they have evidence that it was an inside job, I can't see that piece of info going anywhere near a plod's notebook.
On the other hand, if Mrs Betty Diddit from Barking calls to say that she's 100% sure she saw Maddie with a swarthy family two summers ago in Majorca, it'll be in Redwood's inbox before he can say "Oh gawd not another one!"

Its a way of explaining where all the fund money is going as they filter it away, imo.

Re: Sad times for the Mccanns
Why are they paying for a Portugese Translator? If someone in Portugal has information , surely they would phone the
local Police???
Your'e right, now is not the time to split but maybe if Gerry HAS got a new paramour, to be seen in public with her would create gossip and the Press would have a field day.
Yet again , the filing of the Accounts at 30/3/2012 to Companies House has been delayed, maybe these comments from Kate about expenditure is just to prepare us for the news that the Fund has very little money. I don't know what price the Royalties would be, but I think over 2,000,000 copies were sold World-Wide,

In the first few weeks, someone tried claiming the reward and Gerry was set up to wait for a phone call. He browsed the net and sucked a lollipop while waiting.

IIRC he has had several photos taken while sucking a lollipop...
I have my own thoughts but do we have any psychs on here who have any input of what this says about his character?

You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows nor a psychic to work out what that says about Gerry McCann's character!

"...We continue to wait and hope that the Portugese authorities will agree to reopen the case so that the many lines of enquiry can be investigated..."
I don't recall the McCanns mentioning "reopen" before; I think "review" has come up but not "reopen". In any case their statement suggests THEY are in favour of the case being reopened but Portugese authorities will not "agree".
Evil people leading their supporters to believe Portugese authorities are responsible for Madeleine not being home for Christmas. If the McCanns want the case reopened, would someone in the U.K. please send them a stamp. I would gladly write the request to reopen for them but can only come up with Canadian postage.

This 'Scoop' hasn't made it into the Leicester Mercury yet.... Perhaps the Mercury has lost interest in the story... or maybe the rumours circulating that the McCanns owed a six months paper bill plus delivery charges are correct...

Re: Sad times for the Mccanns
Purchasing a stamp does seem to be a problem for the McCanns.
It could be that they live a long way from their nearest post office.
Oh wait a mo' -they have a car. Hmm.
They could also get a stamp from an assortment of local stores and newsagents. And some stationery too. Unless they've been barred from all their local outlets. Oh dear.
If they can't manage the task of buying said stamp, I'm sure the PJ wouldn't be averse to receiving an email from them. Of course that would mean having an email account and finding the PJ's addy, but that shouldn't be difficult - we've all done it, to coin a phrase. Maybe their computers have gone bust and they're waiting in a very long queue for tech support. How annoying.
They could always phone. But perhaps there's a fault on the line ...... oh screw it - open another bottle of New Zealand white ......
