From day one they have managed to stay blameless, even though they are completely to blame for their daughters disappearance. Never have i known such high level support within hours and 6 years down the line it is still there. !!!!
Good morning Panda
If the report in the link below is true, it seems support for the McCanns began an hour, after Madeleine was 'discovered missing' by her mother at 10pm.

Morning Kathybelle......good find:Applaud:
I read a long tome ago that it was Tony Blair who phoned John Buck, we know Cherie and Kate exchanged mobile phone calls ....must have been Gerry who phoned Tony and one of those deleted. I have seen copy of the telex to the Foreign Office from John Buck suggesting they take care and not get too involved because the Tapas 9 timelines did not agree. He left Portugal , as did Ellis, not too long after. I did wonder how the McCanns were able to receive such immediate attention and thought Gerry , as a fund Raiser for the Labour Party might have known information about donations which were illegal. However, Cameron is a Conservative so there has to be another reason why 3 Prime Ministers have gone out of their way to help the McCanns.

Re: McCanns ...Unusual people or liars?
To be fair, I don't think David Cameron IS helping the McCanns. Scotland Yard may turn out to be anything BUT helpful. But you do have to wonder why Brown, Blair and Miliband got involved so quickly.

Iris, Cameron got involved because of the maudlin letter to him from the McCanns in the Sun helped by Rebekah Brooks. Over £5 million has already been spent, if nothing is acheived Cameron will not only get a rollicking from his Backbenchers, but the Public as well. He need not have agreed further expense if all that has been acheived in 2 years is 38 "people of interest"

Re: McCanns ...Unusual people or liars?
Panda, I know many disagree with my 'conspiracy theory' view of HMG involvement, but I feel Cameron was directed to be seen to be supportive of the McCanns...
It was not for nothing when Brown placed gagging orders, D notices call them what you will on the reporting and release of information regarding a 'missing' 3 year old child, adding that it could affect national security... what a complete load of tish, or is it?

Unless Madeleine was conceived from an experiment which is why she was born in Amsterdam, I can't think of any conspiracy, except the theory that Gerry was a fundraiser for the Labour Party and knew too much about where the donations came from. Cameron couldn't say NO to Rebekah that's the crux of it, too pally.

Re: McCanns ...Unusual people or liars?
I have said many times on here that I have good reason to know that Cameron knows that many people concerned with child protection smelt a rat early on, and I simply do not believe he has any reason to 'protect' them. Quite the reverse. The bad stuff began and continued under the previous government. The business with the redhead is a red herring!

I have to wonder how many sins/crimes are hidden behind that national security smokescreen that has become so popular since 9/11.

I might be wrong wjk but the McCanns lived in Amsterdam for a while.Certainly the Twins were born in the U.K. I still think it was strange to have invitro fertilisation there which they would have to pay for , plas living expenses, Flights etc. There are many fine clinics in the U.K.

Re: McCanns ...Unusual people or liars?
Panda,Kate had IVF treatment in the Netherlands (free) whilst Gerry was doing a fellowship on cardiac MRI.
(I've seen the resulting paper from the joint study, basically it was just a post-graduate course).
Kate returned heavily pregnant to the UK leaving Gerry and Maddie to follow later.
Haven't exactly seen reams of interviews with the many friends they'd made there, if any.

We have no proof of that and personally I believe the mechanism for a review was already well underway. It is much more likely that the McCanns were told and as usual, tried to turn it round to make it look as though it were all their own idea. If anything, David Cameron was probably revolted by their disgusting manipulation of his own dead son Ivan.

I'd forgotten about that. Thundering bad taste and insensitivity. Although Gerry himself said that it could have been worse and they could have lost all three.
Which I'm told is easily the last thing you should say to a parent who's lost a child, even if they have five others. It's no comfort but apparently children seem to be more like possessions than sons or daughters to some people.
I lost my darling Bagheera last year, it was no comfort that I had one cat left, how would that feel with children?

Re: McCanns ...Unusual people or liars?
The Sun paid £200,000 to the McCanns, not the Fund, to serialise the rights to her first Book, they knew she was writing another and I think it was a case of "if you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours." Rebekah suggests a plea, did Kate write that herself? and the Sun publishes it, thereby embarassing her friend Dave into agreeing a Review. If SY had told the Home Office they thought Theresa May's scope was inadequate and a full Review was the only way, she would have told Cameron and he could have authorised it without any of this manipulation ,the Money came from the Home Office Account.
