Re: Lisbon Libel Trial McCanns v Amaral
I wonder if this is part of the wider agenda. Whatever that might mean.

Madeleine McCann's dad Gerry to face former Portuguese police chief in court in libel trial
26 Sep 2013 20:18
Gerry, 45, has submitted a request to be heard as a witness to a court in Lisbon hearing the case.
Judge Maria Emilia Melo e Castro must approve the request before the trial restarts tomorrow morning.
Gerry’s sister Trish Cameron has been confirmed as a witness.
Kate, 45, attended the start of the case a fortnight ago with relatives including her mum Susan Healy and cousin Michael Corner. (??????)
But her plans to give evidence were scuppered when the judge failed to rule on whether she could take the witness stand.
Gerry’s decision to apply to give evidence is thought to be related to her frustrated hopes of speaking at the hearing.
It is believed a recent change in the law in Portugal now allow complainants in civil cases to give evidence.

Re: Lisbon Libel Trial McCanns v Amaral
I've just lifted this from facebook. Hope that's OK
Goncarlo Amaral has just put this on his FB page:
At this point, it is necessary to recall the decision of the Court of appeal of Lisbon, which upheld the action brought in 2010, revoking the decision of the Court of first instance, considering unfounded, unproven, the restraining order filed by the couple Mccan against the sale of my book "Maddie – the truth of the lie": "the book" Maddie – the truth of the lie "– written by defendant Dr. Gonçalo Amaral, has as main motivation the defense of his personal and professional conduct. "
"The contents of the book does not offend any of the fundamental rights of applicants" (couple Mccan) "exercise their writing and publication is contained in the constitutional rights guaranteed to all by the European Convention of human rights and by the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic." (Translated by Bing)

An eleventh hour desperation request by Mr. Control hoping for camera time on the court house steps where he will lose all control and make a fool of himself and dishonour the memory of Madeleine yet again.

Re: Lisbon Libel Trial McCanns v Amaral
More to the point....why hasn't Gerry McCann stood up and told his story off the anguish they went through ....for Madeleine.
Why hasn't he?
I didn't expect Kate McCann to stand up because she can't be trusted on the stand...but Gerry!
He could off bluffed his way through like he has in the past 6 years......he did at Leveson...oh I forgot...that was for themselves...not not even for the twins he was there.
Unbelievable ...
DON'T I WISH I HADN'T OFF WRITTEN THIS EARLIER..
seems Michael Wright has been on the prowl......again....and reporting back.

Re: Lisbon Libel Trial McCanns v Amaral
So poor Gezza is only going because the naughty sardine-munching judge wouldn't rule on whether poor Katiekins could be a witness or not. And she weally did want to be a witness - she weally, weally did. So there.
Even though up to now they had no intention of speaking, both of them, until Mike Monitor and The Muddlers proved such a dismal failure at their Portuguese gig that is.
Seriously, I do hope the judge gets to know that she's getting the blame for this ...

Re: Lisbon Libel Trial McCanns v Amaral
is this all a bit last minute, was this planned from the start so that if refused it will be seen as detrimental to the McCs cause, and a reason for another load of headlines. just asking.

Spot on, interested. The arrogant wee tosspot is riding in on his white charger, ready to Save The Day, because none of the others were capable of getting it right. Bring it on. If victory for Dr Amaral wasn't on the cards before, well it probably is now.interested wrote:An eleventh hour desperation request by Mr. Control hoping for camera time on the court house steps where he will lose all control and make a fool of himself and dishonour the memory of Madeleine yet again.

maybe he wont be allowed to appear, that would be such a legal rebuff. I hope his request is refused. jimo.

Oh, I hope he is. Because he'll throw one of his hissy fits in the court (he can't help himself) and this Judge has already proved that she's not going to stand for any nonsense. The minute Gerry starts on one of his tantrums, and believe me he will, it's game over.tanszi wrote:maybe he wont be allowed to appear, that would be such a legal rebuff. Re: Lisbon Libel Trial McCanns v Amaral
I think it's very likely that it's a tactical ploy. UK media are already leading people to believe that KM wanted to appear as a witness but the nasty Portuguese judge refused - so now GM is hoping to be refused as well so that they can spin ithe whole thing as being unfair. This has probably been the intention all along, since it must have been clear for a long time even to them that they were in a very weak position. IMO if the judge agreed to GM appearing as a witness GM would have a big problem.tanszi wrote:maybe he wont be allowed to appear, that would be such a legal rebuff. Re: Lisbon Libel Trial McCanns v Amaral
She already did, kitti, when she said that what they found were "facts". Surely Mr Gerry isn't deluded enough to think that he's going to charge into the court and set her straight? On second thoughts, I do believe that he IS mad enough. The judge will have him hauled off to a cell in no time if he starts any of that nonsense in there, that's for sure. She's already lost the heid with Duarte, Wright and Pinto and that's just for starters.kitti wrote:Especially if she mentions the dogs ....

I immediately thought this has been planned from the start as a headline grabbing ploy.

"Madeleine's dad, Gerry McCann jets in to 'help find the truth'.........." by Jerry Lawton. The article can be found in the Daily Star.
Clarence Mitchell says, "I can confirm Gerry McCann is hoping to give evidence".

Re: Lisbon Libel Trial McCanns v Amaral
he going to help find the truth........... well thatll be good for a start. he knows it does he.... well hope he enlightens us. I do hope he doesn't tell the judge that the responses of the blood and cadaver dogs are not facts.
I agree Mary B, I would not be at all surprised if it was just another headline grabbing ploy, waiting for the rest of the media to follow suit. hasn't anyone out there in the media got any balls, whatever happened to good old journalistic investigation. why doesn't anyone of them report unbiased on this case instead of searching out and publishing non relevant pieces, as the Judge said.
So much for taking note and co-operating with Scotland Yard, didnt the media report allegedly that SY didn't want them to go to Portugal because there would be a media scrum. Well the McCs doing their damn best to try and rustle one up. jimo.

He didn't think it important enough to be there from the beginning of this trial? Desperation is setting in now.

Oh come on maebee he was looking after the children and so couldn't be there. but now he has obviously decided what he has to say has merit, hence the request to give evidence. hope he doesn't say "no questions".

He has always thought what he has to say has merit. I hope the judge gives him a good slap down if he anwers, "ask the dogs".
I hope he didn't medicate the twins before he left for Portugal.

Re: Lisbon Libel Trial McCanns v Amaral
I'm hoping, as the investigation is now 'live' with SY co-operating with the new PJ team that the pair are arrested due to new evidence from new/old witnesses as AR said and are re arguidoed instantly like the inspector in a report said , that K&G McCann should be re-interviewed.
They did a runner before he could get to them!
As they will be on Portuguese soil together for the first time, in a very long time, i suggest it will be an ideal time to do it.
With the 'tacit' approval of the SY detectives 'on the ground'
Let's see him go berserk and jump out of the witness box when a defence lawyer asks him 'did you sedate the kids'?

He's gonna get on a flight organised by a commercial airline. People have been doing this for quite some time now and the need to travel overland with a donkey doesn't exist exist anymore! (Well, Kate is already there, isn't she?)Wintabells wrote:'jets in'

Re: Lisbon Libel Trial McCanns v Amaral
I was just thinking.......he was either going or he wasn't.
Good headline though....gerry flies in to save the day....
If he does appear, he was always going to appear...it was planned.....the questions ID would ask him would off been 'prearranged' and 'known' by Gerry McCann weeks ahead off this.
And his patients would off been made aware that their appointments were cancelled.
So the headlines are shit....as usual.
