Lisbon Libel Trial McCanns v Amaral

The gruesome twosome are together in Lisbon. Wow, thought he was letting her sink on her own. One cheering thought though, they won't be able to get a tan as the weather here at the moment is pants!

I. Stilwell is very hostile toward G.Amaral. The juge is avare of that because she asks at the beginning:

"The Judge asks whether the witness' public controversial position concerning Gonçalo Amaral will influence her testimony.
IS says her conscience tells her "no", but then adds she hopes it will not."

She is more consistant as a witness for the Mccann than the others but her attitude  ( speaking fast and too much,commenting out of subject,being sarcastic)  displeases the judge who often interrupts her.

They'd better be careful that they don't get arrested - any charge will do, but 'bringing Portuguese Justice into disrepute' sounds good

Hi frencheuropean - yes, I read her testimony and I thought her whole attitude stank.
No respect for the gravitas, formality and dignity of the court.
Might just as well have been arguing the toss in a four ale bar.

Another witness who has done the McCanns more harm than good.

Bonjour Almostgothic. I hope it's nos serious. The pros will be disappointed, they can't clame G.Amaral for that.
A poster on another forum said that even if a new law allows the plaintive and the accused to be witnesses in their own trial, as the complaint was filled before the law, they can't do it for this case. And I also understood that it's impossible to add a last minute witness or to change the way a witness is quoted, because there is a precise " window of opportunity!" to do it, as shown with M.Pinto:

"The judge said MP should have revealed his intention during the 10 legal days so lost his right because he didn't do so. It now falls to the lawyer for the plaintive to ensure that MP appears personally in order to be examined in the final allegations session".

But, I am not sure it's true. Will see.

Yes, GA planned the kid's surgery. In fact I think he is operating on the kid himself.

I hope it picks up for the 6th Oct Keela. We are going to the Algarve for two weeks and have paid extra for a place with a solar heated pool! So looking forward to a swim  

so the soundbite is that he and K know best what they went through. well surely knowing that he would have asked initially to be heard, not asking now. so hes "jetted" back to the UK.

I honestly can't see how they can claim that. If I was Amaral's Lawyer , I would be combing the internet and listing all the reported sightings of Madeleine AFTER Amaral's book was published. Also, the holidaymakers able to purchase from the Fund a Poster Pack to place photos of Madeleine wherever they go (sneaky grin here:haha: ) Maybe had the Fund been used wisely instead of employing persons wthout experience of searching for missing children , Madeleine would have been found by now if she is still alive.

so hes "jetted" back to the UK.

Pity they were not there for Madeleine when whatever happened, happened. As for justice, if there was any the McCanns would have been investigated and locked up long ago.
