Re: Daily Express....Fresh agony for Kate and Gerry McCann
Sorry, Panda, but there are trial postponements everyday. Some cases are postponed 4, 5, 6 times for several reasons. One of my neighbours had a court case which was postponed 5 times that I remember (I was a witness). And it wasn't even a big case with many witnesses. It was a ridiculous thing between neighbours (there was a mini flood in the upstairs neighbour apartment. The water went downstairs and ruined a painting and two expensive rugs). Finally, when the case was finally heard, the insurance company agreed to pay what my neighbour had asked and the judge told us yo go home. I didn't even get to testify.Panda wrote:Hi pennylane....long time since you have been posting , glad to see you are O.K.pennylane wrote:The Libel trial will be held mostly in Portuguese?
It's like being on a rollercoaster this case. Here we are , all geared up to see the McCanns get their comeuppance and I think there is a definite spanner in the works and I think it was kitti who drew attention to it.
Why did Redwood say he thought there was a good chance Madeleine was alive? ? There was no new evidence to support that because he is dredging up from the Files which gave little indication that Madeleine was alive. To extend the search and spend more money he surely had to satisfy Theresa May and Cameron that it was necessary, ergo, either he does have such evidence or there has been the most almighty protection by Government in history.
If the Trial is postponed the Portugese Judge will be seen as colluding .

Exactly.Palmeras16 wrote:In the final chapter of the book, Mr Amaral highlights the conclusions of the investigation:jeanmonroe wrote:Palmeras16 wrote:
Mr Amaral wrote a book claiming the McCann’s caused their daughter’s death,

Could you please substantiate what your evidence is for stating that?
Not 'hearsay' but your irrefutable proof, beyond contestation, that Mr Amaral claimed that the McCanns CAUSED their daughters death?
Thankyou.
BTW Palmeras, please bear in mind that GA COULD sue YOU for stating that.(unless you have absolute PROOF that he did say that)
Just a thought.
1. The minor, Madeleine McCann died inside apartment 5A of the Ocean Club in Vila da Luz, on the night of May 3rd 2007;
2. There was simulation of abduction.
3. Kate Healy and Gerald McCann were probably involved in the concealment of their daughter's body.
4. The death may have occurred as a result of a tragic accident;
5. The evidence proves the parents' negligence concerning the care and safety of the children.
In summary: possible accidental death with contributory negligence by the parents, plus concealment of a cadaver and the simulation of an abduction.

That happened to me once, annoying isn't it. Claudia, I do think this is a special case though and every effort will be made to ensure everything runs smoothly because the eyes of the World will be focussed on Portugal and the Court knows this. The McCanns and Amaral have had their 3 months , whether a Portugese Court allows the McCanns to give evidence by video link remains to be seen.Claudia79 wrote:Sorry, Panda, but there are trial postponements everyday. Unfortunately for Mr Amaral, Claudia, he was unable to substantiate any of the conclusions he highlighted in his book. Had he been able to, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

In that case, I don't understand why previous judgements about the book have been in his favour.

When the book ban was overturned the judges said that the McCanns' rights were not infringed in any way.Not Born Yesterday wrote:In that case, I don't understand why previous judgements about the book have been in his favour.

You should read the Acordão which overturned the book banning. ASAP.Palmeras16 wrote:Unfortunately for Mr Amaral, Claudia, he was unable to substantiate any of the conclusions he highlighted in his book. Had he been able to, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
But anyway, can't see why you seem interested in this topic. After all, there will be no court case whatsoever because the McCanns accepted the settlement GA begged for them to accept and are now filthy rich. Ok, I'm not sure about the rich part.

And, conversely, the McCanns have been unable to provide a scintilla of evidence to substantiate their claim that Madeleine was, FACTUALLY, 'abducted'.Palmeras16 wrote:Unfortunately for Mr Amaral, Claudia, he was unable to substantiate any of the conclusions he highlighted in his book. Even their own lawyer, in a REAL court of law, (2013) would not or could not substantiate their claim that Madeleine WAS 'abducted'
But you already knew that, didn't you?

Sorry, but it doesn't work that way and the court could care less about the eyes of the world. You just have to see how long it took for the biggest, most important case in judicial history to be resolved. Well, in fact, it still hasn't been completely resolved. And it started in 2002.Panda wrote:That happened to me once, annoying isn't it. Methinks IF any of them turn up, it will be Five star hotels for five star liars, and paid for by the intensely family friendly fund, with its endlessly varied and ambiguous uses.jeanmonroe wrote:If, IF, only 'relatives' turn up in Lisbon will they be staying at the same 5 STAR hotel that the McCanns used, only because it was convienient you understand, and if so who will be paying for that?pennylane wrote:The Libel trial will be held mostly in Portuguese?
Surely not the 'fund'?
I can't imagine handicapped childrens 'donations' to the Madeleine 'fund' being spent on lavish accomodation for McCann relatives would go down to well.
Relatives, i might add, that have no direct bearing relating to the libel trial.
But hey, when have the WIDER family ever worried about using the 'fund' money 'donations' for their support?
ETA: How many of Philomenas, past and present, students believe a word she says, or has said, having had the opportunity to read the 'files' without her standing over them?
Is Philomena still asking for 'donations' from students for her brother's private ltd company?
I agree re Philomena. She and her brothers' are a shifty bunch of siblings indeed.
'No stone unturned' when it comes to greasing their palms via public donations and lawsuits, 'no stone unturned' when it comes to the best legal teams, PR teams and spin masters; however, any old crook will do when it comes to 'the search.'

Thank you Panda I check MM regularly, and am never very far away from my friends here.
Yes it has been an epic roller coaster, one of which some parental responsibility, nurturing, and common sense could have avoided.
From the enormous effort and monies the McCanns have applied to silence Goncalo Amaral, I would say they are very afraid of what he knows.... and that gives me hope for the future!

I'd love to reply to your post but i'm afraid i won't be able to.
I have to go to the hospital to have my sides sewn up.
They split when you said "however, any old crook will do when it comes to 'the search."
I shouldn't laugh, it hurts so much!
Ooopps, i've just cracked a rib!

Well, you know what they say about feathered creatures congregating in unison!
With acknowledgement to the Jill Havern forum: The McCanns taking the PIs(s) - they hired the best lawyers in the world - and the worst private detectives.
