After 5 years in the dusty court file, the process where he investigated the mysterious disappearance of a child looks like it will finally see the light of day. at this point, is not relevant to know who agreed with archiving and always opposed the reopening of the investigation established in the entire contents of the process, what matters is that the investigation continue, is from the point at which it was interrupted, either from the convictions of those who analyzed the facts later.
But, you must remember that a criminal investigation may not concern the politically correct, nor have its objects bound by personal interests, institutional or otherwise, nor be subjected to intolerable pressures and coercive acts, what is at issue is ascertain the truth and the fate of the child, so that those responsible for the mysterious disappearance are brought to justice.
If the reopening of the investigation give rise to the realization of all the missing steps, if you have in mind all lines of investigation still open, and answer all questions, we will be able to say that the investigation was free and objective, reaching the true material, and can then do justice to children mysteriously missing.

Thanks Annabel, I think Amaral should keep very quiet now and like the McCanns, say nothing until after the Trial. It was noted this morning on sky that the OPORTO investigation was run by completely new Policemen , none from the original investigation.

wonder where this leaves the mcs vs ga trial if it is a ongoing investigation and its been reopened can portugal ask for the trial to stop while they are working on the case ?would kate and gerry want to be seen together now in portugal ?

The libel trial is separate from the case....


Mr amaral can say what he likes about the case, he's not involved in it anymore.


The process will have to start from the beginning, blank sheet off paper.

If the are going to do a thorough investigation the first thing they will do is check the Tapas statements and all the OC Staff. I know it will be virtually impossible for people to remember what they said 6 years ago but they are probably hoping one of them will crack.

They don't have to remember what they said.

The initial witness statements etc would have to be part of it, they can't say let's forget all the evidence people gave and start over, with blank sheets ?

I agree Amaral should keep silent however he is human. He was put under incredibly bad light- I am not sure how many times I would hear "disgraced" in front of my description before I'd want to make just the tiniest point that perhaps it IS "relevant to know who agreed with archiving and always opposed the reopening of the investigation" - and whose lawyers and media handler put incredible pressure on the case thus making it impossible to get a straight line of sight to follow.

McCanns are not interested in the notion of their neglect and at this point no one else is either from a legal standpoint I don't think; it's too late.

the important thing is what happened, and if McCanns are more comfortable with Redwood because his MO is to appear to be investigating the abduction scenario of a live child and he doesn't appear to be attempting to "fit them up" ie unravel the truth inside all their misstatements, he will likely get more cooperation fro mthem - as well as being willing to investigate the second scenario which the PJ was unwilling to do after it became obvious they were getting road blocked.

I hope he stays quiet now though on the process reopening, and just focuses on his own libel trial. As a witness himself, to their statements and behaviors and what was done etc he too would be under secrecy if he is questioned, I would think.

Good question - if they "had to sue" and had no way out of it when he refused to settle this would be a good time to drop the libel case because they now have a good excuse to do so, so they can focus on all ths "new" information - in a civil case I think they could do that if they wanted to.

That is why I asked the question the other day, if it was usual for the trials in Portugal to stop for a few weeks in the way this one has. Carolina kindly answered me and said yes it is. I had wondered if the judge had been asked by the PJ and/or SY to hold the libel case up so that other things could take place in the background.
