EXpress Report .. Police Chief Comments
http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/438814/Police-chief-Sir-Bernard-Hogan-Howe-We-have-the-best-chance-of-finding-Madeleine-McCann
It's got photos which is why I didn't copy and paste.
It is very unusual for such a Senior Police Officer to comment , is it because there are rumblings about the expense, , or is he trying to persuade us how well SY are doing?

Re: EXpress Report .. Police Chief Comments
I am hopeful that he is setting the stage so that the McCanns and their pals can no longer refuse to cooperate with the investigation.

Can someone enlighten me off a case where someone has stolen a child, apart from ONE in USA when a child was stolen from the hospital, kept it and looked after it!

I can't see what they have to co-operate about, I hate to say this, but if there was any suspicion of their belief that Madeleine died in 5a , the Police would never invite them to sit in on a meeting like that.jinvta wrote:I am hopeful that he is setting the stage so that the McCanns and their pals can no longer refuse to cooperate with the investigation.

They didn't invite them to sit in on the meeting.
The PJ and SY representatives had their meeting and then told the McCanns afterwards about the plans to reopen the investigation.

Kitti, I presume that you mean cases where children have been found alive. There have been a few cases of new-born babies abducted from hospitals in the U K within the past 25 years and thankfully found safe.
The only rarity involving an older child that I can think of was the case of Simon Jones in 1990.

I thought I read that they were invited to attend the meeting. The McCanns were obviously in Portugal, why would they be there otherwise?almostgothic wrote:They didn't invite them to sit in on the meeting.

In any event, we can see the way this is going , the McCanns being kept informed all the time , I suspect this is why the Oporto Police are keeping quiet and suggesting they are following their own leads .
Sir Bernard added: “I can’t be absolutely confident we will resolve it, 100 per cent. I am confident we’ve got some really good officers involved, we’ve made some really good progress on the lines of inquiry. But I think we’ve got a really good chance.” Redwood's not being taken off the case then.

From JM's blog:
The English Police confirms in their note, that the line of investigation followed by the Portuguese is different from the one that is being explored by the Scotland Yard. “At the request of The Policia Judiciara, AC Mark Rowley and DCI Andy Redwood attended a meeting with senior officers on 17 October, in Lisbon, to discuss this significant development, and for a comprehensive briefing on the new lines of enquiry which, at this point, are separate to the lines of enquiry being followed by the MPS. [At the conclusion of that meeting, the group were joined by Kate and Gerry McCann who were briefed on the plans to apply to reopen the investigation.], reads the press statement.”»

Thanks almostgothic. For the McCanns to go to Portugal they must have thought they would sit in:grin:almostgothic wrote:From JM's blog:
