They've finally got their swarthy suspect .
Can this so-called new investigation get any more ridiculous? It can certainly carry on getting more expensive. How are the papers allowed to print a photo of this man when he doesn't seem to ever have been an official suspect? He doesn't match any e-fit or description, eg George Harrison, Mr Egghead, a swarthy bare-chested Frenchman running alongside the autoroute. As for the question of the Mccanns becoming 'private prosecutors' based on Portuguese law ! Is this possible? Even if they're no longer persons of interest to the police (and I'm not convinced about that, as there's been no official announcement since the case was re-activated), surely parents of victims can't be allowed to influence the judicial process? Wouldn't this be a bit too close to the parents of the defendant being able to have access to all investigative documentation and influence how the case proceeds? It's not exactly going to be an impartial and objective input. I remember it was mentioned in the press, in the early months of the original investigation, that the McCanns planned to do this and look what happened a day or so later - they were made arguidos (sp?). Here's hoping .

Re: Face of Maddie Suspect - Mirror
I've just noticed this man is wearing an earring. Does this mean that any African male wearing a single earring is going to be viewed with suspicion? After all, it's happening to children in this country that have different colouring to their parents. If every child looked just like their parents wouldn't we all have the same physical characteristics, because everything else would be bred out? My parents both had very dark, almost black hair, and my sister and I were blonde with blue eyes. My mum's sister had golden curls when she was a child. Nobody ever questioned that our parents may have stolen us . But then, my parents were white, middle-class professionals.

It's bollocks, they have less legal rights than if they were 'arguidos' but since when have the press let the truth get in the way of a good story?jejune wrote:They've finally got their swarthy suspect .

Re: Face of Maddie Suspect - Mirror
He wouldn't have gone in armed with a syringe of fast acting knock out drugs, and probably if going in for the odd laptop or wallet would not have worn gloves - the FBI is not going to come in and dust for fingerprints in the case of small time petty theft. He'd have encountered her and been surprised to see the flat was occupied and backed out fast.kitti wrote:And KNOWONE saw this 'black man' hanging around at all!
He would off stood out like a sore thumb.
And a confused junkie managed to get in and out off this apt without so much as a footprint or DNA (not yet anyway)
And Madeleine wouldnt off screamed her head off and mrs fenn wouldn't off heard these screams off terror from a young child!
Oh pleeeeese...
So we're meant to believe he left no traces what so ever; he acted alone but opened a window wide open for no reason, did not crawl into or out of it, killed the child instead of just swiftly leaving, and took her with him to keep his dna from detection?
Perhaps if he encountered her while someone was checking outside the bedroom door, he might have kept his hand over her mouth too long (while she's kicking and thrashing, undetected by whomever was checking on her) and suffocated her -- but that puts him in the bedroom when whoever it was that checked - Gerry at 910? was in the apt. But Gerry tells us he went in and saw her beautiful just as they had left her, so that's out.
So he was in there at 930 when Matt checked? Likely case is, if he was in there smothering MM, again a process that takes five minutes and up - undetected of course - upon hearing Matt leave, he'd have done a runner; why on EARTH would you risk leaving with a child? And why open a window he didn't leave from or need to jimmy to enter?
This is madness.

Re: Face of Maddie Suspect - Mirror
If he was high on heroin he'd hardly have behaved as normal but also would upon hearing someone come into the flat, waited to take them unawares, not spent his time messing about with the children but ready to knock down and throttle anyone between him and the door or window and make a disorganized noisy hash of it.
If he went in after 930 check and found the kids alone I suppose he could have thought to take one and sell her but if he had not planned it out ahead of time, no. You make a beeline out of there without the child, or you kill her in a frenzy and leave without her and certainly not disguised as a white tourist with dark hair or blond hair or looking like Gerry.
This "line of investigation" leaves behavioral and common sense holes you could drive a tractor through.

But this man taking her does not account for the dogs findings. What did he do ? Kill her while panicked then hang around in the wardrobe with her long enough for the odour to develop ? Then what about the car ?
