If true that it would probably have been a Russian Jet, when is NATO going to do something?????

Excerpt from Politico Now
By ADAM SNEED | 8/31/14 11:26 AM EDT
A former American ambassador to Russia says the conflict between Russia and Ukraine can be solved easily, but an agreement hinges on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s willingness to negotiate.
“This is easy. This is not like a lot of other conflicts around the world,” Michael McFaul said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
McFaul said the solution is for Ukraine to create a more decentralized government in the eastern part of the country and to accept the Russian language in an official capacity in the region.
“I think the government in Kiev would be willing to negotiate along those lines,” said McFaul, who served as ambassador from 2012 to 2014. “A deal is ready to be made, but Putin isn’t ready to negotiate.”
Putin believes he can use military force to get everything he wants in Ukraine, McFaul said, adding that Europe and the United States must persuade him that military force won't work.

Yes Marky, all this started because Ukraine wanted to join the EU and Putin wasn't having that.!! However, these sanctions are hurting Russia and the Oligarks , public opinion in Russia is not exactly in favour of what Putin is doing so all we can do is hope he sees sense and stops interfering . The cease fire is holding but Ukranian troops are not confident it will last.

putin has no intention of having nato on his border. the taking of crimea was to protect the russian navy's black sea port. it was also a message of intent. putin has little or no intention of backing down simply because he knows the west has no stomach for a fight. sanctions may well be hurting russia but they will also hurt the west plus when winter comes. how will the eu react when the oil and gas is turned off. putin holds most of the cards and the eu know it. as for obama, it's a european problem.

I am not positive on this, but thought that if this cease fire breaks down NATO would intervene . Since the gas pipes to the European countries run through Ukraine , surely Kiev can use this as leverage? Also the IMF is ready to lend Ukraine money to pay their debt to Russia. I think Germany and other European Countries are looking for another supplier for gas , wouldn't be surprised if this is secretly under way .
As I write , Putin has threatened action if any more sanctions are introduced.

i'm not certain on this but i doubt very much if nato would intervene at all. as for the pipes running through ukraine, so what? the only leverage ukraine would have is to somehow turn them off which would be counter productive as they need the product as well. not heard about about the imf lending money to ukraine to pay off their debt to russia but that might explain why they're so keen to join the eu so it can pay off the imf. don't doubt they are looking. not sure where but don't doubt.
