So SY came back from PDL for the mccanns sake.

Kate wants the world to know she still clings on to hope that Madeleine is found alive, despite British police being poised to dig up areas of the Portuguese resort where she vanished seven years ago.

A close friend of Kate and Gerry has revealed they have asked Scotland Yard to delay any ground searches in Praia da Luz until after they have “celebrated” the youngster’s special day, with a cake and presents at home in Rothley, Leicestershire.

So, let's try and go through this insane fairy story step-by-step.
They're still clinging on to hope she's still alive so are presumably hoping that ground searches will come to nothing and a search for a living child undertaken. And if that is their train of thought, they would also strongly believe that time is of the essence.
As they've said many times before, they believe she's being ravaged by a paedophile (as in page 129 of the bewk). But instead of urging on the whole investigative process, they want it delayed a little longer (entailing more suffering for a 'live' Madeleine) whilst they 'celebrate' her birthday and stuff their faces with iced cake.  

Are we really expected to believe this garbage is for real?
If it is, what does that tell you about the parents?
And the hack who saw fit to publish this piece in a Sunday paper?

So should the digging stop for 24 hours or just the party time, 2pm to 6pm at Rothley Towers ?

They need locking up for many reasons, not least because of this.

No rush, as usual. Their next appeal will be on behalf of the residents of PDL, stop for the tourist season. Then we will be edging closer to Christmas, so best to wait. There really is no good time for police to dig for your lost daughter. They may as well not bother. Happy faces all round in Rothley then.

Yes Iris we have gone from the "I suppose I must accept that Madeleine may be dead " to having a Party to celebrate her birthday and let it be known that Madeleine's room remains untouched.

I can only think that the birthday 'celebrations' are:

Some weird kind of displacement activity (fiddling while Rome burns)

OR

Just putting off the evil day (pointless head-in-sand exercise)

OR

Buying time in the vain hope that some stooge might be able to stealthily 'make good' (builder's term) any ... ahem ... anomalies in the Algarve terrain (dangerous move)

How can they celebrate her birthday when she isn't here, that's bizarre .



I would be down the church praying for her.



The thought off them all sitting round a table with hats and balloons freaks me out.



To me if they do that it means it's a celebration off her life ....all three years off it ....

Kitti, it is extremely unusual for parents of a missing child to celebrate the birthday of that child in their absense. The main guest for a birthday party should be the birthday child! If they were truly religious, they would be in a Church praying for her, as you said.

Something just sounds very off and contrived about all of this, and the timing is very strange with it being 7 years since Madeleine's disappearance. I wonder if the McCanns are worried that Madeleine will be declared dead since she is a ward of court, and it is not up to the parents to request?

really is it true that they made this request? if they did they really are self serving uncaring people. what I would think would be foremost in their minds is what happened to her not the cuffing birthday celebration for a child who is not there. and whilst the request is bad enough, did SY agree to it. if so it is beyond my comprehension that a supposed elite force panders to the wishes of two people who willing left their 3 chidren alone in dark aparentment in a foreign country whilst they went on the lash with friends. something is seriously wrong here! imo.

Now tanzi, that's a bit harsh! It's their party too! Oh no, its just their party, as Madeleine can't be there! Something being seriously wrong is an understatement.

The McCanns again trying to keep Madeleine in the headlines, yet at the same time, control the headlines.
