Have there ever been searches in the location of Vascao River?
In 2007, just after the McCanns left Portugal, the media reported that some documents were found, left behind - as believed - by Justine mc Guiness, former spokeswomen of the McCanns. They pointed out a location of a deserted place on the border between Alentejo and the Algarve, 20 km from Almodovar, crossed by the Vascão river. The documents were found under a sofa in the appartment of the McCanns they lived in just before they left Portugal.
Surely, the McCanns never spoke of the location themselves (like they never did about the Smith sighting).
Or, were these findings a hoax. I personally never found anything about it in the files.

I don't think this area was searched by the PJ. As far as I know, the documents left behind were very difficult to interpret. I am surprised the Justine McGuiness was never interviewed though.
I have a very vague memory of this area being searched by a 'mad' lawyer. He was convinced she was buried there (probably after the reward money). There were frogman etc and they discovered a bag of bones which turned out to be animal bones. Does anyone else remember this or am I having a senior moment?

It was the Barragem do Arade reservoir which Marcos Aragao Correia had searched.
He was the lawyer who represented Cipriano (resulting in Amaral being accused of torture).
He had been hired by Metodo 3 to frame Amaral.
