I'm dim too then, I don't think the interviewer was being ironic, she was agreeing.

She was agreeing imo. The interviewer was paid to do her job...she probably had her instructions on what to ask and possibly (we don't know) to be sympathetic to the McCanns. I would think she would be putting her job on the line to make snide/accusatory remarks in the background.

She didnt have to say anything but she did at that moment and it think she was being sarcastic.

Body language experts would have a field day with Gerry's shaking head.
