She’s a cowardly bully who hides behind her smart front door and spews her bile in secret because she doesn’t have the guts to do it in public.

She obviously can't tell her texts from her tweets.
Or maybe she thinks that texts sounds more menacing, for effect.
She also thinks Leicestershire is in the Home Counties! Gawd help us.
But it's not just the factual inaccuracy.
Or that the Mirror is so far behind the times in its perception of current public opinion re this case.
It's the sheer hypocrisy she displays in doing to others what she accuses them of.
Indeed, this way over-the-top piece reads like some vulgar chav screeching over a garden fence.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that Sweepy had a lawyer in her family. I hope this is the case.
Those of us who have been here forever know the dirty tricks that are being played out.
We know that the Mirror has been Mitchell's organ of choice for quite a while.
Why they bend over so willingly for him is anyone's guess.
Everyone out there - if you find Malone's article repulsive, the remedy is in your hands.

Re: Madeleine McCann internet trolls are devoid of humanity - much like the people who abducted her - Carole Malone
Is this person considered a "serious" journalist - I mean she does have her "own" column - but come on!!
I think it was this same person who, a few years ago, wrote about people who she imagined were posting in their pj's in the middle of the night. She didn't seem to know that www stands for the world wide web and that represents I don't know how many time zones around the globe (40 maybe??). So that while the time shown on posts in the U.K. may indicate the middle of the night, the post might have been sent at mid day somewhere else.
Silly ignorant woman!!!

Re: Madeleine McCann internet trolls are devoid of humanity - much like the people who abducted her - Carole Malone
I consider Carole Malone to be more of a troll and sicko than Brenda Leyland. Who is she to call this woman out for merely sending texts (or tweets) or whatever about a pair of hedonistic, child-neglecting parents? She is clearly implying that this woman threatened the McCanns, which we don't even know to be the case. She could have just been texting/tweeting about the McCanns much the same that we post here on this board. I do hope that Ms. Leyland has a lawyer.
The bad part of being a "celebrity" is that many celebrities are subject to negative texts, tweets, posts, blogs, etc. But not all celebrities try to shut the internet down and silence the dissenters so that their children will never be able to read bad things about them. The only thing that made the McCanns celebrities is that they are the most well-known child neglectors on the planet. Of course they are going to receive scrutiny, as their actions both before and after Madeleine's "disappearance" deserve scrutiny.
Until the McCanns are truly cleared (as we all know they have not been), then the public is free to question them. They are not above reproach.

And in Malone World apparently, at some point last evening, Leicestershire uprooted itself and is now squatting in the Home Counties.
It was last seen trying to barge poor Kent into the sea
There's a crater in East Midlands now where Leicester used to be ...

Carole Malone, you have blood on your hands, same as Martin Crunt and I hope the pair of you are in torment for the rest of your miserable lives, along with your heroes the McCanns
And if that makes me a troll so be it.

Right at the end she refers to 6 innocent children - to be fair to her on this occasion, she was talking about the parents causing problems for themselves, she wasn't criticising the children.

It's still a terrible thing to say the day after those six children were murdered. She has zero respect for anyone or anything. And a face like a blow up sex doll (punctured), to boot.

Tragic death of Twitter troll Brenda Leyland does not mean we shouldn't investigate online thugs
Oct 11, 2014 21:20
OPINION BY CAROLEMALONE
Sunday Mirror columnist Carole Malone says it is more important than ever that we expose vile online trolls for what they are
Brenda Leyland took her own life just days after she was confronted for posting abusive tweets about the McCanns.
Her death was tragic and shocking. But does it mean those hard core trolls who spew out lies and filth on Twitter should not now be exposed?
Surely it’s more urgent than ever because now we know trolling costs lives and it’s many victims now want the bullies reined in and in the worst cases prosecuted.
Because if we allow this tsunami of hatred on social media to continue there will be more deaths with victims AND abusers taking their own lives.
In my column last week I asked what had been going on in Brenda’s Leyland’s head – why for four years she had obsessively been tweeting vicious messages about Madeleine’s parents.
I asked was she sad or lonely or did she got some kind of twisted kick from hurting this broken family.
Only Brenda Leyland knows that. Only Brenda knows why she took her own life. Nothing I said impacted on her as she was dead long before my column was published.
But the fact remains the media has a bigger responsibility than ever to expose this kind of bullying and to try and minimise the harm these people do.
And so we have to balance tackling those who may be unstable with our duty to expose vile and totally unacceptable behaviour.
And it IS vile and totally unacceptable to threaten people’s lives and relentlessly abuse them.
Brenda Leyland didn’t threaten anyone’s life.
But this year alone it’s reported she sent 2,136 abusive tweets about Kate and Gerry McCann – some days up to 50. And since 2010 she’s sent a staggering 4,625 almost all of which were about them.
She knew that was wrong and she said she regretted it. And I believe she did because some trolls don’t connect the abuse they dish out anonymously on Twitter with real world or real people.
But for their victims it’s devastating.
Brenda Leyland was catapulted into the public eye for just two days as a result of her tweets about the McCanns.
But they have been hounded and viciously abused for SEVEN years. As have many others. Yet the trolls refuse to accept that’s wrong.
They call their vicious missives “my opinion” when it’s actually online thuggery.
I’ve had a taste of that thuggery this week, the kind of depraved abuse the McCanns and others have been dealing with for years.
As a female journalist it goes with the territory. But it cannot be the case these bullies and cowards – often hiding behind false names – can terrorise people without legal consequences.
And as tragic as Brenda Leyland’s death is police and journalists cannot be expected NOT to confront those who have threatened murder or been vicious for fear they might kill themselves.

It wouldn't surprise me if the person that threatened Brenda was a made up twitter name to shift the blame from the media and Martin brunt.
I also think we should have a Brenda Leyland twitter day and tweet Carole Malone this.....your one feked up bitch.

This is nothing more than a damage limitation exercise. Malone screwed up big time by decrying on-line trolls before becoming one herself through the medium of her paper.
Make no mistake, there is no difference between airing your views on twitter and airing them in a newspaper column.
Let me remind you of the unwarranted vitriol Malone wrote for the general public to read:
"One of these trolls, Brenda Leyland, is a church-going 60-something divorcee who lives in a pretty village in the Home Counties. She looks like a perfectly respectable woman. But of course she isn’t.
She’s a cowardly bully who hides behind her smart front door and spews her bile in secret because she doesn’t have the guts to do it in public.
This piece of work was sending up to 50 texts a day to the McCanns. But when Sky News cameras approached her she wasn’t quite so brave.
She looked like a frightened rabbit (typical). But as she was running away (also typical) she said she thought she was entitled to do what she’d done.
Really? She thinks she’s entitled to threaten, hound and bully the innocent? Is that because her own life is so lonely, so miserable, so poisoned that she wants others to suffer the same. Or is she just a twisted, fecked up bitch who gets her kicks from hurting people".
Surprise, surprise, Malone's latest diatribe uses a softer approach and is much more tempered.
And her relief that her disgraceful piece attacking Brenda Leyland in such a blatantly unprofessional way was published after Ms Leyland allegedly committed suicide is self evident as she states: "Nothing I said impacted on her as she was dead long before my column was published".
How charming...
Well, it really doesn't matter what you write now Ms Malone. It's all too late.
You will never escape the fact that you yourself became a troll the second you published your story. You are now no better than those who troll on-line.
In fact, you are worse because you deliberately attacked a person in your column and placed it in the public domain knowing all and sundry would see it and, no doubt, hoping that Brenda Leyland would read it and suffer.
Brenda Leyland did not send threats or vile messages directly to the McCann's.
She was not approached, cautioned, arrested or charged with a crime and yet she was publicly humiliated by you and doorstepped by Martin Brunt who openly lied to her in order to garner a reaction.
And so, no matter what you say or write in your column now, the way you and Sky News and the MSM publicly destroyed Brenda Leyland is despicable and indefensible... Full stop!

Wasn't It said that Brenda sent 4,800 over 2 years.
Thats 50 pw x 200 pm = 2,400 per year which is.....4,800 over 2 years.
50 per day = 350 pw = 1,400 pm which means...know one could send that much per day as it was stared it amounted to 4,800 over 2 years

Hard to believe that a journalist actually wrote that last, almost incomprehensible statement, trying to clear herself of any wrongdoing:
"And as tragic as Brenda Leyland’s death is, police and journalists cannot be expected NOT to confront those who have threatened murder or been vicious for fear they might kill themselves."
So, what she is really saying, taking out the double negative, is that police AND journalists should be expected to confront those who have threatened murder (agreed, and I would include bodily harm), but should also be expected to confront anyone who has been vicious (quite subjective IMO) without any consideration for their state of mind or well being.
So who then decides who is being "vicious" and should be doorstepped? I know, just let Carole Malone decide! Apparently she considered Brenda Leyland to be "vicious" and worthy of the outing by Martin Brunt, despite the police finding nothing illegal or wrong with Brenda's actions.
Malone is again proving to be a complete ignoramus. She now has her mouth full of two feet. Hopefully that will shut her column up for the rest of her life.
