Madeleine McCann madness continues - Carole Malone - Mirror
According to Carole Malone in the Mirror "Madeleine McCann madness continues - and leaves her parents with nothing once more".
And how about this, "How devasting this must all be for Kate and Gerry McCann - another flurry of headlines, more promises of suspects and arrests...and then nothing. Again!"
Please, someone clue this columnist in - the spin is all coming from McCann "sources".

Sunday Mirror columnist Carole Malone questions why small-time burglars are suspected by Scotland Yard of snatching the little girl
Scotland Yard detectives probing Madeleine McCann’s disappearance are saying she might have been taken by three burglars who’d been robbing apartments in the area.
Seriously? Burglars? I’m sorry, but the kind of crooks who break into holiday lets are looking for a few euros, mobiles and a bit of jewellery.
They don’t see a little girl and think, “Oh we’ll take her instead”. They’d run a mile rather than kidnap a child because they’re small-time.
And while they have contacts who can “fence” baubles and cameras, they’re unlikely to have any who can sell children.
The Met are saying they believe these burglars could have taken Maddie because the night she disappeared they were making lots of calls to each other.
Well they would if they were on the rob in an area where cops had been alerted that a little girl was missing.
And if the Met has to write “request letters” to the Portuguese police asking if they can search these men’s homes and access their bank accounts, how close are they to arresting anyone?
Four officers from Operation Grange in Portugal last week, are now back in London having made no arrests.
How devastating this must all be for Kate and Gerry McCann – another flurry of headlines, more promises of suspects and arrests... and then nothing. Again!

It probably IS quite devastating for Kate and Gerry, that no-one's buying into their pink shite anymore, not even house-trained hacks.

The Met are saying they believe these burglars could have taken Maddie because the night she disappeared they were making lots of calls to each other.
But the Met have said no such thing.
Perhaps Ms Malone would care to show us an official Met statement which even mentions burglars.
Are we really supposed to believe that a seasoned journalist is so woefully unaware of what goes on in the newspaper industry re the McCann case?
Perhaps she should contact the McCann mouthpiece who fed her newspaper group and others the burglar story in the first place.
I'm sure that several of her colleagues will have his number ...

However the time for irony has long gone and is well out of place in the current situation, especially now where millions of taxpayers' hard-earned pounds are literally being poured down the drain day after day. The Mirror and the rest of the UK dead-tree press have failed in their duty, which is first and foremost to expose the machinations of all those involved behind this disappearance, thus protecting the the interests of the law-abiding public and making a contribution to the protection of children everywhere. The fact that they do not, cannot or will not continues to demonstrate their utter failure to fulfil their own high aspirations as guardians of the truth and free speech. The only purpose they now serve is to disseminate the propaganda and lies of a patently sick PR industry.

Well said T4two.
There will be many Mirror readers who only get their McCann 'news' through reading the papers.
Therefore the irony, if that's the angle she's coming from, will be completely lost on them.
If she is indeed being ironic, then who is it being aimed at?
Surely not Team McCann, because they know that she knows already, and she knows that they know that she knows already.
IMO it's just another 'pity the poor parents' piece.
Lest we forget, this is the Mirror - CM's current lapdog organ of choice.
And for the old stagers amongst us, the paper that willingly bent over for him and removed its significant and popular (at the time) Madeleine McCann forum.
Hey ho, it's always Cynical Sunday for me ...

Your first line sums all of this up, in a nutshell.
The unsuspecting public truly believe SY are hot on the heels of three burglars, who were stuck to their phones on that night. Case solved. The newspapers say SY say it, so it must be true. Some poor souls believe they will have recordings of said phone calls......I am not joking.
They do not question what happened afterwards, don't ask why would they take a child, don't wonder where she is now, indeed there are those who believe once they get around to talking to the burglars they will find her alive and well.
At this point I think it would be more encouraging if nothing were written at all. Then I think the silence would be significant. Journalists at long last refusing to be a mouthpiece for the pink one and his employers. That would be progress. If they wish to report - go to Lisbon and report from the courthouse.

Anybody here remember Dallas? And the priceless episode of a "fugitive", escaping as a passenger on a regular scheduled flight.
"We'll see them on the plane CCTV!" shouts the policeman.
And sure enough, here's a wonderful camera shot - crystal-clear definition and detail - and it zooms right in to the perpetrator, magnifying every pore! You can see the whites of his eyes!
Then the camera zooms round and follows the perpetrator up the aisle of the plane!
It truly is wonderful. Like no CCTV you've ever seen before (or since) on a plane (or anywhere else).
But that's really what some of the pros on Twitter believe. That she's been abducted by three nice burglars who've kept her in a palace and fed her on Turkish Delight for the last seven years.
They truly do walk amongst us.

All this UK taxpayers' money spent, without any more evidence than was already provided by the PJ? Why are they getting this special treatment, with millions of pounds of taxpayers' money involved?

Re: Madeleine McCann madness continues - Carole Malone - Mirror
What bothers me about the "3 Burglars" Theory is that it is just so unbelievable, and to have the McCanns allegedly on "tenterhooks" and considering this a "significant lead" shows that they are grasping at anything and everything that leads the investigation away from themselves. Surely as parents you would not consider this a significant lead and there is no way you would be on tenterhooks awaiting the outcome of these imminent arrests. Had burglars taken her, and a huge reward was set up almost immediately, then surely the burglars would have tried to cash in if she were still alive. The only other possibility is that she is dead, as there was no reward for a dead Madeleine. The McCanns desperation in pointing the finger toward anyone other than themselves speaks volumes.
As for the article, I am not sure what to think, but it surely doesn't paint SY or the McCanns in a good light.

Re: Madeleine McCann madness continues - Carole Malone - Mirror
SY's finest Mr Redwood went on live television, transmitted throughout Europe and showed us an e-fit of a man seen carrying a blond child in the area around the time their child went missing. The McCanns response was that they were not going to comment and they neglected to replace that man with the now eliminated Jane Tanner man on their website. Not a word, not a single expression of hope, nada.
On the other side of the coin, a tabloid newspaper prints a story about three burglars which is less believable than the Three Little Pigs fairytale and they are reported as being on tenterhooks.
As long as stories are being printed about gypsies, burglars, white vans, anything at all, it detracts attention from Smithman. Smithman, a true, credible lead in the disappearance of their little girl has been whooshed by the McCanns.
That man should be top of the agenda. He is not, and never was. We all know why.

It makes you wonder how much longer this can go on kitti... How long can SY put on this pretence of actually doing something constructive? How much money is there in the Met budget? Police numbers are being slashed nation wide, criminals thumb their noses at the police and judiciary, real victims receive no satisfaction, yet £millions is being squandered on a Portuguese Panto' that should have and could have been solved long ago, except for ministerial interference which still continues seven years after the event.

Funding for individual cases is surely not the way budgets are dispensed in a Democracy, especially in a nation allegedly strapped for cash...

don't know if this has been seen by Amanda Platell
Four police officers have gone to Portugal to try to interview suspects as part of the Met’s £5million Madeleine McCann investigation.
Did it really require them all to travel there? Have they never heard of Skype? While I admire Gerry and Kate’s determination, and hope fervently for a breakthrough, I can’t help but think of the 140,000 other children who go missing in Britain each year — one every three minutes.
How much is spent on them? According to the Centre For The Study Of Missing Persons, it is between £1,325 and £2,415.

Maddie cops hunt ex-hotel minibus driver in fresh lead
POLICE are hunting a former minibus driver at the Algarve holiday resort where Madeleine McCann went missing.
By Paul Robins /Published 4th February 2014
The unnamed 40-year-old used to ferry tourists between the Ocean Club complex and Faro Airport at the time the youngster vanished.
Detectives reckon he could hold the key to cracking the seven-year riddle of Maddie's disappearance.
Madeleine was three when she went missing from her bed in Praia da Luz in May 2007.
Officers from Portugal's Policia Judiciaria are believed to have spent days scouring the resort in a bid to track down the ex-Ocean Club worker.
The former minibus driver is now thought to be jobless after a short stint working in a local bar.
A hotel worker told Portuguese media: "Three individuals who identified themselves as PJ officers were here days ago.
"They were asking where a man who worked at the Ocean Club when Madeleine disappeared lived.
"At the time he used to pick up tourists who were staying at the Ocean Club from Faro Airport and at the end of their stay he would run them back to the airport."
The major breakthrough comes after Metropolitan Police officers identified three former Ocean Club workers as prime suspects in the case.
Crunch British detectives believe the trio may be behind a string of burglaries at the holiday complex in the run-up to Maddie's disappearance.
Police believe the three men would have known the layout of the Ocean Club complex and the best escape routes for anyone taking a child.
It is one of the best leads to emerge since the Met reopened the case following pleas from Maddie's family.

A hotel worker
Scotland Yard officers now want to search their homes and probe their bank accounts.
They held a crunch meeting with senior Portuguese officials last week in the hope of gaining permission to operate on Portuguese soil.
It follows a painstaking coldcase UK review supported by Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry, both 45.
A trawl of mobile phone records revealed that the three suspects were nearby and made a number of calls to each other in the hours after Maddie was reported missing.
According to reports, people living in the area have also pointed out how the former minibus driver "was always using his mobile phone".
One theory is that the burglars raided the McCanns' flat and were panicked into snatching the youngster when she woke up.
But Brit police have also turned their attention to a notorious gypsy site seven miles from Praia da Luz.
Detectives were understood to be investigating the area of Meia Praia along with another traveller site 30 miles away.
Last October it emerged another former worker had been made a prime suspect.
Waiter Euclides Monteiro, 40, was forced to quit his job after being caught stealing tips.
The immigrant from Cape Verde was killed in a tractor accident in 2009.
His family were furious and claimed that the Portuguese authorities were trying to use him as a scapegoat for Madeleine's disappearance.
