On and on and on, the never ending story and all done from the comfort of her own home, let everyone else do the looking as usual.

Re: Kate and the posties
So what are the posties gonna do with these alerts when they get them?
Keep an eye out for the missing person on their rounds in case there's a million to one chance they might spot them?
Surely it would be more efficient to use social media, which attracts the attention of masses of folk - not just one narrow occupational group?
Am I being churlish? It probably sounds that way.
But currently our mail is being delivered between 4.00pm - 5.00pm.
So it looks like the posties are already overburdened as it is.
Ah well. It's all grist to the mill when it comes to PR and self-aggrandisement.
Will we ever get to see facts and figures on the success of this new alert scheme, I wonder?

"A recorded message from the former GP will be shown for the first time on Tuesday to Royal Mail staff on their internal telly network."
I hope a friendly postie records it for us on their phone!

Re: Kate and the posties
Now that she has partnered with the Royal Mail, I guess the McCanns will be on the New Year's Honour List. There are times when I think the whole world has gone mad and then my husband reminds me, "it's not the world, it's the people in it". Poor sad little Madeleine whose parents continue to use her death to promote themselves....hiding in plain view.

Re: Kate and the posties
Surprised the CWU are standing for it, they are a very bolshie union and won't be impressed at posties being asked to take on extra duties. Having worked for the Post Office myself in the 1990s I can assure you that postal workers are overworked and underpaid as it is.wjk wrote:So she's now got the Royal Mail onside?

As well as the extra duties, what about the posties with children who wouldn't dream about leaving their young children alone while they go out for the evening and don't see the McCanns as examples of reasonable parenting. Surely they should have a say in who they are being asked to "back".

Re: Kate and the posties
I bet royal mail aren't doing this for nothing.
Junk mail...we get it delivered by the royal mail....they don't deliver for nothing , the postie don't get extra money for delivering it BUT royal mail get money .
I sometimes only get junk mail, no letters delivered by my postie so I asked...why?
He said, royal mail are PAID, by whom, don't know , but they are definitely paid to deliver junk mail to us SO I do not believe royal mail are doing this for nothing....there a business after all.
