Parents pump almost 1 million into search fund
Sun on Sunday today:
EXCLUSIVE: Parents pump almost £1million into search fund
Exclusive by Mike Hamilton
The parents or Madeleine McCann plan to plough their own money into the search for their missing daughter if police halt their investigation.
Kate and Gerry McCann both 47, of Rothley Leics, fear public donations have dried up as the search approaches its eighth anniversary.
So they have pumped almost £1 million into a fund for Madeleine that would be running at a loss without their cash.
The money came from Kate's book about Madeleine's disappearance in Portugal in May 2007 and the search for her.
A top cop suggested this week the £10 million police probe into the case should be wound up.
Met Police Federation chairman John Tully said "We no longer have the resources to conduct specialist inquiries all over the world"
(With thanks to Complete Mystery of Madeleine McCann site for this article)

Thank you Cherry.
I must say... I am surprised all the monies from the book about Madeleine... was not immediately paid into the fund.

It doesn't say when this money was pumped in - it could have been years ago.

Well, ...think we would have heard about it at the time... if it had been ages ago. C.M would have broadcasted it.

Re: Parents pump almost 1 million into search fund
well pardon me but I thought the whole reason for th book and sales was for it to go to the search for Madeleine. oh is this an inverted plea for donations to the search. sounds like it to me. I think this statement has already backfired, how many people are thinking the same as me

I thought the same - a sob story because the public donations have dried up

Quite agree tanszi.
This article does them no favours at all. imo. It somehow comes across to me ... that we should be grateful for their donation from the Maddie book into her funding.

Re: Parents pump almost 1 million into search fund
So the McCanns are going to plough "their own money" into the search. I thought it was stated at the time her book was published that all proceeds would be put towards "the search".
If I remember correctly, eight years ago the two working doctors didn't have sufficient money to cover their mortgage payments, hence the need to use funds which were donated by the public to help in finding Madeleine. Now that only Gerry is working, the parents have "pumped" almost a million into the fund which would be running at a loss without "their cash". Disturbing to say the loss of Madeleine appears to have been a nice little money earner for the McCanns.

Re: Parents pump almost 1 million into search fund
Thanks cherry,
I'm not up to speed on fiddling money, but pumping £1 Million in the fund, where it should have been from day one, could well place it out of reach of any claims from Mr Amaral if he wins judgement in Portugal.
Could it be the McCanns have been forwarned of the decision not going the way they were hoping.
Anyone hazard any guesses?

Now that wouldn't surprise me at all. Bet there's something behind this statement you can bet.

I imagine that Lorraine and Phil and Hollie will be having them on their sofas regarding this in the hope some more money may be given to them by members of the public who unfortunately are not aware of all the facts.

I think you've nailed it.
It's the timing.
The transference of a large amount of assets from a personal account to a fund account, announced just before the trial verdict is due, sounds oddly coincidental to put it mildly ...

I'm positive the timing is not a coincidence. Let's not forget too that the "fund" account is in fact a limited company and the "funds" that were raised, by donations from the public, were used largely to pay all the lawyers the McCanns employed through the years to ensure they remain safe from prosecution in Portugal. It's time for an up-to-date accounting of just how much has been spent by the limited company on the search vs. legal fees.

I´m sure you´re right cherry. The thought of more leg squeezing, hand holding and the practiced pathetic look has brought me out in a cold sweat already.

Re: Parents pump almost 1 million into search fund
I agree with all on here re the transfer of funds...the timing...the verdict being known and hence direct monies away from reach of the court.
Monies from the bewk etc should have gone straight into the Fund. It's all PR BS to get more airing on TV sofas in the hope of raising more cash from people who only rely on MSM for information...if they only knew!
I wonder if the people who donated to the Fund originally have discovered that their money went to lawyers and not for searching ?

Re: Parents pump almost 1 million into search fund
We would need to know how long the large sums of money were in an account but some of the interest figures look extremely low.
I would say the McCann's accounts have been as transparent as a magician's disappearing act.
Thanks to Enid for all her work.

Re: Parents pump almost 1 million into search fund
Over the past 8 years the McCann’s have quite happily begged for and readily accepted donations from the generous public and from gullible a-z-lister’s to help:
Pay their mortgage.
Fund their Limited (not a charity) Company.
Pay for tacky Madeleine merchandise.
Pay extortionate amounts to hire unprofessional and corrupt private dicks.
Retain top rated and expensive lawyers who specialise in libel and extradition cases.
Hire a spokesperson/spinmeister to control the MSM and protect them from those who challenged their ridiculous and unsubstantiated abduction story.
Sue all and sundry who dare defy them including an ongoing attempt to bankrupt and destroy the only man in the world who was seriously trying to discover exactly what happened to their daughter, (and who still is).
Now, (shock-horror), the McCann’s state they plan to plough their own money into the search for their missing daughter if police halt their investigation.
Well that's fine by me. After wasting 10 million pounds of taxpayers money, let the police halt their pointless investigation right now and let the McCann's fund it themselves.
After 8 years of spending other peoples hard earned, it's about time they stuck their greedy little mitts in to their own pockets and personally spent a few sovs investigating what happened to their daughter...
Of course that's never going to happen. Because, imo, they already know what happened to their daughter and where she is...

Madeleine's disappearance and the continuing search for what happened to the money mccannfiles.com
Madeleine by Kate McCann
By Nigel Moore
Monday 30 March 2015
Readers who purchased madeleine by KATE McCANN may have done so in part because of the 'flash' sticker (actually part of the cover graphic) which promised: 'All royalties donated to Madeleine's Fund'.
Those same readers may now be somewhat surprised to read a report in the Sun on Sunday that 'The parents of Madeleine McCann plan to plough their own money into the search for their missing daughter ... The money came from Kate's book about Madeleine's disappearance in Portugal in May 2007'.
Oh really?
Has money from sales of the book gone straight into the McCanns' private bank account(s), from where they have donated it to the fund - in which case how is that accountable and how do we know all the money has been donated?
Or is this simply another piece of emotive and creative writing from The Sun, on behalf of the parents, to counter recent reports that the Met investigation should be wound down?
Perhaps Kate and Gerry could enlighten us all.
