All that needs to happen is for the book to be allowed to be on open sale here in the UK...

They'll be looking to get some cash into those coffers because they appear to be running the risk of having to use their own money.
Re: Appeal results tomorrow?
Instead of the McCanns getting bids for exclusive tenth anniversary "exclusives", I hope Mr. Amaral is swamped with bids from U.K. papers for the serialization rights to The Truth of the Lie.

Pat Brown has tweeted "Congratulations" to Mr. Amaral. In a separate tweet she said, "The case is dead in the water, but, at least, Goncalo can finally be free of the mess."

According to the Sun, "Maddie Mum's Bid To Win BGT"..."Kate McCann's Missing People Choir brings Britain's Got Talent judges to tears with heartbreaking secret audition." The performance is expected on ITV in May. What a coincidence, May, the tenth anniversary of Madeleine's death.
How bloody insensitive, coming on the day the McCanns lost to Mr. Amaral.

Re: Appeal results tomorrow?
Personally I think it is wrong to include a "missing people" choir on a talent show. As frequently happens with such events, not only popular TV shows, the "sympathy" vote will come into play and the rest of the contestants may as well go home.

That story has been held back they knew what might happen so kept the story out of the limelight until the appeal so they could use it to deflect from what happened

Re: Appeal results tomorrow?
Supreme Court judges met on Tuesday in Lisbon to resolve the couple’s fight against a lower court’s decision in April last year to reverse their 2015 libel win against the former detective – with the ruling handed down on the eve of their younger twin children’s 12th birthdays.
Although the hearing took place in private – and an official public decision is not set to be sent to lawyers acting for the litigants until later in the week – it emerged late in the afternoon that the case had gone against Gerry and Kate McCann.
It’s a blow to the couple who have committed thousands of pounds in the search for Maddie, and who hoped to force the former detective to pay more than £1million in compensation.
Thousands? What happened to the millions and millions?

Re: Appeal results tomorrow?
How can it be said "the couple who have committed thousands of pounds in the search for Maddie" when in fact these funds were donated to a limited company by generous people who were taken in by the McCanns story of "abduction". There is no mention that none of this money came from the McCanns themselves; rather they appear to have done very well for themselves over the past ten years. They have "committed" far more of the money to legal fees than for the search.

Anorak's coverage of the latest news "Madeleine McCann: Amaral Wins, Maddie Missing and Kate Doesn't Sing on BGT" concludes with "There is no word on the investigation into what happened to Madelein McCann."
I'd like to hear Kate "sing" but not necessarily as part of a choir but instead to answer the 48 questions.

All their statements are strangely worded; how about "..there is no evidence that Madeleine has come to physical harm." As a mother, even if my child was abducted, I would consider that as physical harm.
Now a "friend" has this to say about the case against Mr. Amaral, "It's not about money...this is PERSONAL". They did remember though to attach a large amount to their "not about money" case.

'IT'S PERSONAL' Furious Gerry and Kate McCann say their court battle with cop was NEVER about winning money but about stopping his Maddie cover-up ‘smears’

Yes, it was personal. Vendetta about 'how dare he accuse us' And, it was about money. Of course it was.
What happened to 'he is hindering the search'?

Thank you
Yesterday, it became known that the Supreme Court in Lisbon ruled in favour of Gonçalo Amaral, in the long running lawsuit that was filed against him over his book "Maddie: A Verdade da Mentira".
This is the culmination of a costly, difficult process that caused a lot of pain and distress, not only to the persons directly involved, but also to many who refused to be silenced, both on the internet and 'offline'.
Nonetheless, it also brought out the very best in so many people who have shown their support, both morally and materially, over so many years. It has been tremendously encouraging and heartening, and it must unequivocally be stated that without you, it would simply not have been possible to walk this road towards Justice.
We await the publication of the Court's decision and will update you soon with relevant information.
In the meantime, there are simply no words that even remotely match the strength and the tenacity that you have dedicated to this process.
So a mere "Thank you" will have to do.

Re: Appeal results tomorrow?
Police Professional.com has an article dated Feb. 2/17 entitled "Madeleine McCann parents told they cannot sue ex-officer for libel disappearance book". The article is accompanied by a picture of Mr. Amaral's book and also mentions "more than 50,000 pound was raised in support for the detective". It was good to see the police site reporting this good news.

Re: Appeal results tomorrow?
LBC NICK FERRARI WEDNESDAY 1 FEBRUARY 2017
Nick Ferrari - Victory for the ex detective who accused the McCanns and Kate and Gerry McCann now facing a legal bill that some say could be half a million pounds. What is at the heart of these accusations or allegations . James Murray is Associate Editor of Sunday Express and has led that paper's coverage of this story and has had a few exclusives in his time on the story, joins us now. So what is at the heart of these allegations James, morning.
James Murray - Good morning well they stem from his book The Truth of the Lie which was published shortly after he quit which was September 2007. In the book he says he quoted from the Police file report which stated that it was possible that Madeleine had died in the apartment. erm now his argument is that his book was a reflection of the Police er opinion to date when he left of what had occurred and he had perfect right to publish that book. Kate and Gerry obviously contested that view and they believe that Madeleine is alive and that they certainly didn't have anything to do with it so they took legal action.
Nick Ferrari - and the heart of the - allegation - I stress, is that there was some kind of accident or incident within the apartment that cased Madeleine's death
James Murray - Yes it was claimed in the Police report that there had been an accident within the flat 5a within the Ocean Club in Prai da Luz er which has caused the death - now that was not borne out by anything that Scotland Yard found, in fact when Scotland yard looked at it they said there was no evidence that suggests that she was dead, in fact Andy Redwood who was leading it at that time, said he believed she could well be alive.
Nick Ferrari - Lastly the headlines suggesting that they are looking at a legal bill of half million pounds, do you see that as likely James
James Murray - Well yes I do as Goncalo Amaral has spent a fortune defending his reputation and book and he has run up massive legal bills himself and he will be looking to get that money returned. He has had to sell his property, he is living with his father in Lisbon, er he is in pretty dire financial straits it has pretty well ruined his life all this, so yes he will be wanting to exact a financial settlement with the McCanns.
Nick Ferrari, many thanks associate Editor of Sunday Express led the newspaper coverage of that story and turned over a few exclusives too.

Re: Appeal results tomorrow?
In no way should anyone be penalised for simply doing his or her job and certainly not for publishing case notes that were freely available to the public.
This persection of Amaral comes from the same mother who's sole contribution to the search was to refuse to answer questions that might have given some assistance to those who were searching.
They have put themselves in the position they are now in.
They should now pay the piper.

Re: Appeal results tomorrow?
could nt put it better myself mylena stool. just to add I think James Murrary gave a fair report especially pointing out the dire situation caused to Dr Goncalo Amaral by the McCanns actions. they have since stated it wasn't about the money. well if it wasn't about the money there was no need to go to the lengths they did in penalising Dr Amaral s finanacial situation.
I would be happy to participate in another GoFundMe for him if needed.
