A doctor has been found guilty of poisoning his lover in a failed attempt to induce an abortion.
Dr Edward Erin, 44, of west London, spiked the drinks of Bella Prowse, 33, after she became pregnant but refused a termination, the Old Bailey heard.
When she fell pregnant the doctor begged her to have an abortion, claiming if she had the baby it would "kill him and he would have to leave work".

Who'd have thought such a respectable person, who had taken a vow to 'do no harm', would do such a terrible thing simply because his job was threatened?

And fancy an educated person, especially a doctor using that kind of cliche! If it killed him, he probably wouldn't have to worry about leaving work!

I don't believe it. For goodness sake, he's a doctor. He's not capable of murder. Now where did we hear that before?

Well apparently the guy's wife said she couldn't believe that the courts took the word of a woman out for revenge over a respectable doctor. His wife is also a doctor. Now where have I heard that one before?

Harold Shipman killed 215 of his patients in UK. Profession makes no difference does it as far a crime is concerned.

No but the good doctors seem to want us to think it does.

Clearly the poisoning doctor and his wife think people should think that way also.

The whole Tapas silence thince begins to make sense when you see how doctors think. Clearly this guys wife does not think her husbnad should be called out over his behaviour because he is a doctor!

I've never understood why people find it so hard to believe doctors to be capable of committing crimes. It is the prestige and money which makes medicine ( at least in the higher ranks) a popular career choice, not some disinterested concern for humanity.
