Top BBC man charged in child sex probe
Sorry can't find the old thread but:-
Top BBC man charged in child sex probe
(UKPA) – 11 hours ago
A senior London-based BBC producer has been charged following a police investigation into child sex abuse, it has been reported.
The employee was arrested as part of Operation Algebra, which led to the uncovering of Scotland's largest paedophile network earlier this year.
Detectives leading the inquiry alerted the Metropolitan Police and the man now faces court.
Nearly 125,000 indecent images were seized during Operation Algebra which led to the conviction of eight men in May.
Iain Livingstone, Assistant Chief Constable of Lothian and Borders Police, told the Sunday Mail newspaper: "We referred a case involving a serious offender to the Met which involved a senior figure at the BBC.
"The individual was in a very senior position and he became apparent to us during Operation Algebra.
"We passed that information on and the individual has now been charged and is awaiting court."
A BBC spokeswoman said it would not be appropriate to comment.

Exclusive: Paedo operation cops swoop on BBC high-flyer
Nov 1 2009 Charles Lavery
A SENIOR BBC producer has been charged by police investigating Scotland's biggest paedophile ring.
Cops raided his offices at Beeb headquarters in London and confiscated home and office computing equipment.
The man, described as a "high-risk target", was arrested during Lothian & Borders Police's Operation Algebra probe.
Two men were convicted last week for sickening and systematic abuse of young children - one a three-month-old boy.
As part of that inquiry, police in Scotland traced the producer to BBC HQ in London and alerted the Metropolitan Police. He has now been charged with offences against children and is awaiting trial.
A source said: "He was at the top end of the scale of the inquiry. Information was passed quickly south so it could be acted on."
Lothian & Borders Assistant Chief Constable Iain Livingstone said: "We referred a case involving a serious offender to the Met which involved a senior figure at the BBC.
"The individual was in a very senior position and he became apparent to us during Operation Algebra. The individual has now been charged and is awaiting court."
He warned the investigation is just the start of a major drive to catch paedophiles involving all of Scotland's police forces.
He added: "There is no stereotype for the type of person involved in this kind of crime against children. It covers every sphere of life and lifestyle.
"We have now launched Operation Alba to combine the eight Scottish forces to tackle this menace.
"The convictions last week did not spell the end of this inquiry, far from it. This is just the beginning.
"We have the technology to catch these people and we are pro-actively doing that. If you are out there and you are doing this, we will catch you, it's as simple as that."
Last week, Neil Strachan and James Rennie were handed life sentences for the organised abuse of children in their care.
Strachan, 41, was jailed for at least 16 years and youth worker Rennie, 38, for at least 13.
It later emerged that more than 70 others are awaiting trial as part of that inquiry.
Acc Livingstone, who holds the ACPOS portfolio for child protection, added: "We are turning a corner in dealing with this kind of crime in Scotland.
"Generally we have been alerted to these individuals when their computers require to be repaired. However, in the future we are going to be far more pro-active.
"They think they are clever and disguise their tracks but I can assure you that is not the case and we will use the very technology they abuse to catch them.
"Through Operation Alba, Scots law enforcement will use intelligence and investigation techniques, including existing and emerging technology, to detect those involved in online child abuse and bring them to justice."

I hope that no-one at the BBC who is close to Clarence is implicated - it might ruin his chances of selection as an MP

Thanks, Christine, Alfie and Patchouli, I am going to try and keep myself off the internet, because the all inclusive booze causes me to have concentration difficulties and even more typing errors than usual

Have one for me while you're there. Since I had swine flu I've totally gone off booze and can't face a drink at all - they didn't warn that that was one of the side effects.

Re: Top BBC man charged in child sex probe
hiya, I was recently diagnosed online as probably having swine flu and had tamiflu. TBH, I do not normally drink but think that being on holiday just makes you fancy one, so I will be thinking of you
I have recovered well apart from bit of a cough, hope you did too xx
I certainly did not feel like drinking whilst having the flu, felt sick all the time, sort of raw feeling inside.
