Re: Who is on a diet at the moment
Im having a really terrible time of it at the moment, if only I had the same determination in the afternoon and evening, as I do in the mornings, I seemed to be doomed by the time I get to Lunch,I dont seem to want to eat the healthy veg and stuff, just the junk food, choc, crisps!!! and of all bloody things................ homemade meat pies!!!
Hope Im not in the family way!!!!

Re: Who is on a diet at the moment
Well, I have managed to keep that half a stone off but its hard, I agree the weather doesn't help at all. I have taken up jogging/walking the dog (alternating every five minutes) which must be working. Still too embarrased to go to a swimming pool but I will get in that sea later IF we get a summer eventually!
My mother has just sent me a book called The Mayo CLinic Diet so I will have a good read and have a go. Written by doctors ! Will let you know in due course :-)

I went to slimming world, its easier than the other diets.
You can either have a GREEN week or a RED week.
I have GREEN because im a veggie....the RED is MEAT.
If you have meat then you have to weigh your spuds and cant have all veg.
On a GREEN day, being a veggie, i eat quorn and you cant eat as much SPUDS....QUORN....VEG....FRUIT...LOW FAT YOGHURT...PASTA....thats why i have green days EVERY day lol.
Its NOT what you eat its the way your PREPARE it....if you have pasta DONT buy jars off sauces...make your own, i do, i mix a tin off tomatoes...herbs and it taste nice when you pour it over the pasta.
SINS...your allowed 15 a day.....i usually save my sins for 3 days so i can have a bottle off wine on sat night lol.
Once you get used to it...ITS EASY and SIMPLE.

Re: Who is on a diet at the moment
Just to let you know I have lost my first stone, well 16 pounds. I've hit a bit of a wall though, I was expecting it so I'm not too disheartened. I realised that I would be in bad trouble with diabetes etc if I had carried on at that weight, runs in the family. Also heart disease. I have followed the Mayo clinic Diet book really seriously, as my mother bought it for me, but I have also become more vegetarian. Should bring my cholesterol down apparently. I do feel alot better but no way am I ready to get into my swimming cossie! I will lose the next stone then maybe, that's my incentive :-)

Re: Who is on a diet at the moment
i am doing really well now and thanks to the Weight Watchers Points Kitchen Scales....at first i was a bit dubious about them but as they are on offer at £19.95, usually £39.95.... i thought i would give them a try and they are great....i am on 22pts and now losing a regular 1.1/2lb to 2lbs per wk....what the scales do is weigh your food, any food..you type in cals per 100grams and it shows you exactly how many points that portion is...if you havn't got the 100g/cals ratio there is a list of pre-programmed foods inbuilt into the scales...also you can build a recipie and add items and then calculate pints...i have created 4 meals a day of 4points and 6, 1pt snacks..for example
lunch is ..medium jkt pototoe (2pt) filled with 5 pieces of chicken tikka breast (1pt) and mint yoghurt (1/2pt) plus mixed salad (0pt) plus a homemade berry jelly (1/2pt)...4pt
snack...3 melba toast with cottage cheese n pinapple (1pt) so basically i can eat anything and everything i fancy ...all i have to do just weigh it and add points
for me personally i love them...this is not an ad but hope this is useful to anyone who is trying to lose weight..they are online at £19.95

Re: Who is on a diet at the moment
jeanie, I was wandering if anyone at Weight Watchers was a vegetarian and how did they feel about it? I noticed in the book I read (WW recipe book) most of the diet seemed to be for meat eaters really. I know the Slimming World one caters for vegetarians but the venue place is too far away, WW is on my doorstep but I'm a bit trepidous if you know what I mean.
I've lost another half stone but feel I could do with meeting up with like-minded people once in a while AND get some encouragement! I'm totally vegetarian now.

It's just basically a myco-protein, fermented in huge vats.
Re: Who is on a diet at the moment
Hi all, good to hear you are doing ok, ive lost 21lbs now feeling good, but last couple of days been off the wagon, I do find that if you have a break you do feel more motivated, I try not to eat the rubbish and Ive started doing a lot of biking not alot of miles but making sure I do aleast 20mins a day. other then that not eating after 6pm helps as well.

I am panic exercising before I have to don swimwear on my hols! If only I didn't love wine and food so much Maybe i could devise an air conditioned poncho as my beach wear.

Or get your Wife to make a big baby napkin, wear that and everyone will think you are a Sumo Wrestler and
wouldn"t dare look twice at you. Like you I am putting on the weight, my weakness is chocolate and
cakes etc. I keep saying if I don"t buy any I can"t eat any , starting tomorrow.!!!
Seriously now, I went to Turkey about 3 weeks ago, all inclusive , place called Altinkum, couldn"t fault it,
where are you going. ?

Antalya, also Turkey- also all inclusive! Great minds think alike!
And even more "Twilight Zoney" the last time I went to Turkey was 21 years ago - to Altinkum! My neighbour's dad also lives there! Must be something about it that attracts the Welsh
It was very nice - did you vist the temple of Apollo and Pamukele - that's beautiful! I

This was my third Holiday in Turkey, 1st time Fettiye, went on a 2 day trip to Ephessus and Pamukele. the
second holiday was Icemeler. The resort was actually Didim, near Altinkum, one of my best holidays ever.!!!
A bit off the beaten track but you couldn"t fault the Resort and the Dolmus is crazy, you can flag it down anywhere, it will take you anywhere and the fare is always the same 1.75 lira!!! Went to the Temple of Apollo,
awesome when you think of the height of the buildings which were erected centuries ago without any of today"s
modern equipment.

Re: Who is on a diet at the moment
I think i need to go on a diet as i have put on about half a stone over the last couple of weeks.Mostly beer i recon watching the footie !!
I'd be ok but i had already put on about a stone and a bit since giving up the fags a couple of years ago so now i've got one of those 'muffin tops'.
Gonna have to seriously reconsider my lifestyle over the next couple of weeks to get some exercise in,dont want to give up the beer yet till the footies finished so got another couple of weeks of that.
So what exercise is best to tone me up a bit ?

Jumping up and down when anyone scores a Goal?? that"s pretty strenuous, as is walking to the supermarket to get your stock of Beer in instead of driving in your Car. Also, walking to your T.V. to change Channels instead of using the Remote.
