McCanns: 'For the rest of today we are planning to catch up with some very good friends'

«The Ulster detective leading the search for Madeleine McCann today reveals his most chilling theories yet, exclusively to Sunday Life. Hardened ex-RUC cop Dave Edgar told us he is convinced that little Maddie is imprisoned in a hellish lair – just like kidnapped sex slave Jaycee Lee Dugard.
He insisted the “back from the dead” reappearance of Jaycee – and the cases of Austrian cellar girls Elisabeth Fritzl and Natascha Kampusch – confirmed his suspicion.
And despite fresh leads taking his probe to Australia and Barcelona, the east Belfast man insists the golden-haired youngster is being held just 10 miles from where she was snatched in Praia da Luz two years ago.
But he warned that the sprawling wilderness where he believes Maddie is languishing is almost impossible to search completely.»
«He feels this is the lone prowler who has Maddie stashed in a cellar or dungeon in the lawless villages around Praia da Luz.
But Dave warned: “This rural, sprawling terrain makes it extremely difficult to search. You could quite easily keep a child there for years and no-one else would know.
“The person who has Maddie is most likely a paedophile or a person so desperate for a family they were willing to kidnap for it.
“I wouldn’t like to speculate on what is happening to her.”
Dave says the region where he feels Maddie is being held has attracted many strange characters, including convicted sex offenders.
“I don’t want to generalise or make gross exaggerations, but there are people there living on the edges of society,” Dave said.»
Sources: Belfast Telegraph and The Independent, 13 September 2009
However in today's Find Madeleine McCann Fund site update allegedly written by the mother of the child, who according to Dave Edgar is being held captive just 10 miles away from Praia da Luz, says:
«We travelled to Praia da Luz yesterday afternoon.»
« Early this morning we went to the lovely little church of Nossa Senhora da Luz.»
«Although our pain feels much rawer here, it is comforting at the same time since we feel closer to Madeleine.»
«We then walked down to the rocks on the beach, with its crashing waves and sense of vastness and freedom...»
«For the rest of today we are planning to catch up with some very good friends.»
Make your own conclusions.

Re: McCanns: 'For the rest of today we are planning to catch up with some very good friends'
These people are totally off their trolleys. It makes no difference where you live there are always unsavoury people around. Where I live in the north east of England there is a very exclusive estate where footballers and managers live, but mixed in with them there are drug barrons and the likes. Not so long ago a convicted paedophile who won the lottery (can't remember his name at the moment) but it was in all the papers wanted to buy a house their but the residents complained.
If Dave Edgar is telling us that Madeleine is within 10 miles of PdL then Kate and Gerry must know his theory to. How very strange then that they choose to catch up with friends rather than go out looking for her on the off chance that they might find her seeing as how no official law enforcement agency are looking for her.

They probably wouldn't get a very friendly welcome in those 'lawless villages.'

That's probably the only 'private,' part of the visit, that the 'good friends,' wish to remain anonymous!

Re: McCanns: 'For the rest of today we are planning to catch up with some very good friends'
According to Martin Brunt on Sky yesterday evening, the McCanns got up "before dawn - about 5 o'clock in the morning" yesterday to visit the church and walk along the beach. I kept waking up last night and wondering why on earth they went tottering along the beach in the pitch dark? And they must have had the keys to the church.... again.... to get in early in the morning. Today they are supposed to be visiting the Ocean Club. Why, why, why must they announce what they are going to do to the media? Why don't they just do it, quietly? They could have gone to Praia da Luz at any time, without saying anything. Nobody would have noticed. And nobody would have given a f**k. "Very good friends"? The priest and his wife. The McCanns just want people to think they have friends and supporters in PdL. It's all part of the media campaign.

My friend has her hair done at the Kutting room in PDL and the hairdresser told her, that they are very wary of talking about the Mcs as so many people are divided on what happened, seems like a few expats are still keeping the abduction theory alive as they can't bear the thought of fellow Brits being involved in their own childs disappearance. Same sympathy doesn't seem to extend to Robert Murat though.

Re: McCanns: 'For the rest of today we are planning to catch up with some very good friends'
«He feels this is the lone prowler who has Maddie stashed in a cellar or dungeon in the lawless villages around Praia da Luz.
He makes portugal sound like a 3rd world banana republic with swarthy men with long moustaches holding innocent villagers to ransom as in the old spaghetti westerns.
I am surprised he hasn't gone charging in wearing a white hat and suit and bringing the law to these villages to the cheers and adoration of the locals.
If i recall other victims kidnapped and held in cellars or houses were in the middle of civilised towns in the states , austria, belgium etc. Were they lawless as well.
In case they hadn't noticed Portugal has a democracy and is part of the EU.
he also fails to point out the number of paedophiles in the UK often in big cities and in coastal tourist centres or doesn't that count.
If he really wants to know what happened then he needs to start interrogating kate, gerry and the tapas 7 because they know what happened and where she is

The Hubbards or the Geraghtys. The PJ should be poking into every nook and cranny re the Hubbards, IMHO. Espcially that snooty-nosed wife, walking up the road praying while her wee girl was distressed and crying. Absolutely bonkers, and possibly aiding and abetting, wouldn't surprise me at all.

Re: McCanns: 'For the rest of today we are planning to catch up with some very good friends'
It was very recently I read, sure it was here, that a woman psychic had been "led " to an area outside PDL
and she supposedly could hear a child crying in a Cellar of a house. Apparently she tried to contact several
Police Depts. and a Local police station sent a Policeman to check it out. He was told by the House owners that
there was a child, a relative staying with them, but he never asked to see her.Make of it what you will, maybe this is the reason they are in PDL .
