What's going to happen on 12th January

Hi all, forgot my login and knew nothing about this happening so soon until l saw it on Sky.

Just asking what Mr.Amaral could say and back up in this court case. Surely he's not allowed access to the police files so can anything be proven as such? He's always said there were things he hasn't revealed yet.

If nothing is allowed to be proven as the case notes have to somehow remain secret then the case will get thrown out won't it??

(Sorry l suppose this may have been answered on here somewhere but l didn't see it)

Everyone has access to the police files now. Even the private bits that haven't been revealed to journalists, which contain the names of paedophiles, Amaral would know as he was the leading officer at the start of the case.

Sorry if this is under the wrong heading. I was wondering what folks think will happen on 12th January and after. To be honest I'm really not sure. I didn't think the case would be shelved the way it was. And everything seems to have gone the McCanns way up till now. That's how it seems to me in any case.

Hopefully justice will prevail and the McCanns will lose their injunction. Amaral Will be able to continue to produce and distribute his book and eventually we'll be able to buy off the shelf it here in the UK. But I wouldn't want to put next months pension on that happening.

This FINAL surge by the mccanns is the END game for them, they HAVE to win this case.

There WHOLE game has been to make the world believe in the abduction theory and they cant afford to loose, if they do.....

SHUTTING UP AMARAL IS THE JUWEL IN THE CROWN....SHUT HIM UP AND THEY HAVE WON WHAT THEY SET OUT TO DO FOR THE PAST 2 1/2 YEARS.

To them it will mean THEY have been telling the truth all along and amaral has been lying...the mccanns will then slip away.

Something tells me that the only way mr amaral will be silenced is in death. he hasn't come this far to give up his fight for madeleine... our man means business.

I agree. Mr Amaral has already published another book, as we all know, about how he has been gagged. If his first book gets a permanent ban it will simply show how right he is about the censorship already apparent in this case. Will the McCanns then try to get his second book banned, meaning he has to write a third one? For all we know, he could be working on a third already!

I don't think his life is in danger ... though it's true that there seems a very dark side to this whole case and everything surrounding it. I'm not normally given to conspiracy theories, so am rather surprised to find myself thinking this way, but if free speech on this case disappears then I'll be a convert to the 'political influence' theory. The question will then be Why?

Bottom line is there'll be no end to the interest in this case for anyone, GA included, until it's known for certain what actually happened to Madeleine inside or outside that apartment.

Dimsie what a good post,fully agree with you,im not into conspiracy theries but same as you i think,Amaral has been a very brave man and i hope he never gives up his fight,the mccs have had a bit too much luck and i hope this time it runs out,hope Amaral wins his right to freedom of speech and the mc mucks are shown to be what they are,mc liars,hope maddie gets justice one day,poor child,i feel so deeply for a child i never knew,maddie deserves to rest in peace,i dont think theres any chance for maddie to be found alive now,its been too long and like you i think the mccs have behaved so strangely since maddie disappeared to be innocent in all of this,i dont know how they sleep at night and the same goes for their friends,shame on the lot of them.

given the book pretty much mirrors the police investigation and does not seem to outright accuse the McCanns, maybe there is hope for this. But the documentary and his subsequent comments erm..so maybe there could be a compromise?

For both sides this will be a very expensive case and I am sure the lawyers on both sides will be advising them to try and compromise their differences with a negotiated settlement. It seems hard to imagine either the McCanns or Goncalo being outright winners.

I would agree with you if I didn't think that Amaral is a man who won't compromise and who knows he has walked "the path of truth". I cannot see him doing anything but battling this out to the end. I don't admire many public figures...um...NONE, come to think of it... but I admire him deeply.

It would be worth learning Portuguese simply to have a one on one conversation with him some day.

I receive a regular e-mail on what"s happening in the EU and it is a fact that the Portugese Eurojust Minister has recently had to
resign for trying to interfere in the Portugese Judiciary enquiry on corruption by Socrates, so yes, I would say
there is widespread corruption by those in high places which unfortunately could taint the Trial. I sincerely hope
this does not happen though.

Amaral always wanted the McCanns in court. I don't think he will back down now.

I hope that Dr. Amaral will win his case.

IF G. Brown (and Socrates!) helped the McCanns in 2007/2008 why should he not use his upper-class-influence now to help the couple?
I don´t know how imparcial the courts/judges are regarding the Governments, to be honest.

Anyway, Dr. Amaral will NOT give up I assume.
He could, at least, re-write his book.
And use subtile wordings...
Nobody could stop him.
Nobody can stop him from writing his books.

I hope that the judge will demand the immediate re-opening of the case (if possible, law is so complicated, unfortunately...).
It is NOT that there is nothing. There are lots of damning indications which would need further investigations...
The case is NOT at its end, no!

It's slightly OT but still relevant, I think....

I was watching a program the other night about "secrets". Now one of the best kept secrets of the 1980's was Camilla Parker Bowles. The press KNEW, from Day 1, that she was Charles' other woman. But they spun us all a fairy story for 10 YEARS, starting from the Fairytale Wedding Of Charles And Di, almost up to her death in Paris in 1997. Everybody Knew about it, but nobody had the balls to say it. Although there were wee leaks and hints dropped here and there.....

...and as we all know, the truth came out in the end.

And I can see exactly the same thing happening with the press and the McScum.

It doesnt matter IF they win the case, it doesnt matter IF they shut amaral up........they CANT shut up OTHER people speaking for amaral, as the judge said....AMARAL CANT SPEAK ABOUT ANYTHING BUT HIS FRIENDS CAN.....so why are the mccanns pursuing this?

Erm, for the same reasons they sued the Daily Express, to defend themselves by favourably influencing public opinion, the thinking goes, they won a court case so they must be innocent. Of course anyone who believes that must be a Sun or Mirror reader. And then of course the other obvious one, their whole raison de etre, cashing in on the daughter they disposed of. Nice couple!

It's not long now till 12th January. What will be decided. Will the ban on the book remain in place. And will the McCanns get there hands on the £1.2m. I wonder if they'll be going to Portugal or will they have a prior engagement. And this business with the secrecy of the files. Does that mean nobody will be able to give evidence one way or the other.

I am of the opinion that if this goes against GA,then its really all over as far as any dissent towards the version given by the mccanns is concerned. this of course is a sad situation to be in,because if GA and his book are thrown out of court,the macs will have pulled off (in my humble opinion) the biggest con act of all time, and whatever fate befell poor madeleine that night will forever be a mystery. The only version of events that will be officially recognized will be the version according to the mccanns,and you dont need me to tell you how much that sucks.

If there is ANY justice in this world,the ban on the book will be lifted and then a certain couple will be forced to start answering some serious questions,and this ridiculous charade of a search(that the book is supposed to be hindering)will cease,and people will stop lining the pockets of the so called fund.

But more importantly,in my opinion,if the macs win this,justice for madeleine has all but vanished,and that will be the biggest shame of all,and we might as well wait for either swarthyman,eggman,bundleman (Both versions),spottyman,posh lookalike or some rich yatch owners to walk into a police station and confess.

I agree with everything you say and the latest ploy of the McCanns to have the Hearings behind closed doors, if true, is an insult to the Portugese people who have put up with so much from the McCanns.

Quite. If they had anything to gain they'd be shouting it from the roof tops and wanting an interview with every chat show host who would entertain them. But suddenly they want it behind closed doors. They should be stopped from carrying on with this circus. That is my opinion. Enough is enough.
